September 16, 2004 -- BIZARRELY, John Kerry is now clutching onto the document-challenged Dan Rather like a drowning man grabbing onto a sinking ship.
Ask outside Democratic strategists, and they all say it makes zero sense for Kerry allies to piggyback on the Rather attacks against Bush's National Guard service now that the anchor's credibility is melting like the Wicked Witch of the West.

I'm still waitng ( long I know) for the media to ask mommy skerry why she is giving money to lazy do nothings to stand outside rumsfelds house, yet she can't poney up any money for hurricane survivors SO THE KIDS CAN WEAR CLOTHES.
You aren't screaming loud enough.
">
You must get AlGore and Howard Dean to come out front and center for you. Only their kind of passion will convince the undecided voters that Bush deserted from his physical. And that really, really matters to voters.
Really. Take my advice. I only have your best interests at heart.
Signed,
Hillary Clinton
"freaked out on election night, tore off his clothes and started baying at the moon". This kind of reminds me of the way Al Gore has been acting lately.
The urchins on the ketchup plantations don't need clothes. It just makes it easier for them to steal tomatoes.
Because she's a b!tch....
ain't that the truth
The reason they are clinging is because there are going to be drug allegations coming down the pike. No physical because the President was afraid they would discover his drug use. Its all a big coordinated scam between the media and the DNC.
LOL - it shows an obvious truth, very funny
You're right.
That hypothesis has already been formulated.
Check out the 'Nation' for an article that states just that.
At the time Kerry was on the defensive, which he does not do well as he feels he is above that kind of thing.
I see the campaign having changed slightly. It is clear the the DNC with its "Fortunate Son" ad campaign wants this attack to be the "silver bullet." It is also clear they didn't contemplate the forgery issue muddying the waters. Kerry is no longer publicly on the defensive, but it is Dan Rather & CBS on the defensive. This has given Kerry a week's rest.
The DNC would not has started the "Fortunate Son" campaign advertisment unless they had focus group numbers to indicate it would be effective on some level. While it has not gone smoothly for the DNC and Kerry, I am sure that Kerry's folks have seen the focus group results and are now buying into the attack.
What I would like to see is either another attack by those with valid reasons to hate John F'n Kerry (i.e. Swift Boat Vets or others) or a direct attack by the RNC & Bush.
A career of waffling by Kerry, living a life of luxury by money given to him, should have produced a few skeletons. They now need to come out.
I hope that in the next couple weeks we hear about all his really slimy dealings. (Navy reserve officer meeting with Communist Vietnamese government officials in Paris, campaign contributions from really bad people, lapses in moral integrity of various kinds say women, drugs, alcohol, whatever.
In short it is time for a counter attack.
I hope that the "new Bush documents" put the Bush team on the offensive.
It's remarkable how many articles like this I've read in the last few days. They all say that the Kerry campaign is floundering, rudderless and reactive, not proactive. The liberals who write these articles all give Kerry advice while the conservatives just laugh. The Kerry campaign is in incredible amount of trouble. Two months ago I was really worried about this election but no campaign with this much negative press can unseat an incumbent.
I am amazed at how well Kerry is doing, considering all the flip/flop/flounder. I think only a moron would vote for this jerk.
Never pay any attention to Kitty Kelly, Michael Moore, Dan Blather, or C-BS !
Pssst. Hey John. I have some previously unseen fresh documents that prove you're not a complete idiot. They're on the way to Dan right now.
Personally the best ads near election day would be signs legally outside the ad-rectricted distance of all pooling places showing the Picture of Kerry in the NASA bunny suit. That is the single most devasting image I can recall for any campaign. Even Dukaksi's tank photo is less telling. There is just no way most people could enter the polling places and pull Kerry's lever with that image stuck in their minds. Did Howard Wolfson (Hillary's guy convince John F'N to put that on with the press around?).
He'll need it -- isn't he addressing the National Guard today? You know, those draft dodgers and weekend warriors?
Word keeps surfacing that the papers (Boston or national I'm not sure) have lots on Kerry that they've not chosen to run with. The only rumors I hear -- and no specifics -- are about tomcatting. And with that, though the Dems don't care -- it being just natural and all, he might lose his meal ticket if it came out.
To win you have to play well on both sides of the football. Frankly, the defensive team has intercepted the ball and scored a touchdown, here. The forgery scandal ties right into the public perception that John F(orger) Kerry cannot be trusted.
Clearly the DNC was gearing up for a coordinated push on the TANG issue, and was planning on a constant stream of drip-drip-drip to follow, all leading up to a grand whallop, probably drugs, as you surmise, before Election Day. Now that strategy is in shambles. A complete train wreck. The quick reaction revealing the CBS forgeries has blunted the attack and will cast doubt on any further revelations. Instead of the drip-drip being further damaging revelations, they will instead be seen as further Donk dirty tricks.
On such small things, nations turn. Amazing when you think about it. I feel honored to have been here.
Brilliant analysis.
