"Susan Estrich also had a screed on what was about to come, and oh how we'd pay "

Yes I remember that article she wrote. Since we are speculating here, didn't that article remind you of one of Osama's "secret message to launch" videos. There are other examples I have seen cited that the Dems were giving "tells" that they were about to drop a big bomb.

Unfortunately for them they are better at propaganda then they are at forgeries.

Unfortunately for us, I don't think we will ever find the smoking gun.

Fortunately for us, the world, and posterity it probably won't matter. Kerry looks to be toast.

Link proves Burkett is Democrat with links to party leaders. Some one with extra space on his computer needs to save this. I suspect it will vanish soon.

Dear mabelkitty,

He may be a nutjob, but that doesn't distinguish him from a large part of his party, including, most likely, the nominee and the fellow who almost became the nominee (Dean).

He appears to have access, at least in the Texas Democrat Party. He has known Mr. Van Os for some years, now, and led Mr. Van Os's attempt to become the head of the Texas Democrat Party. Are you saying that someone in this position has no access? Could you explain the discrepancy between your claim and the evidence?

Of course he's being used. But he has a pretty good idea that he's being used, I think. And he goes along with it because: he's a committed Democrat; and he's a pretty typical Democrat looney.

Wow, here is the Kerry link!

OK I am convinced that Van Os is clearly a DNC player and his simultaneous representation of Burkett and work for the DNC is highly suspect.

I think its time to swing the searchlight of the blogosphere on to Van Os. At the elast, Texans need to knwo more about this scumbag who is campaigning to be appointed to the Texas Supreme Court.

No. I'm not going to clog the thread on a distraction, and Burkett is a distraction - not the source or the brains.

Dear mabelkitty,

I don't think I said that Mr. Burkett is the ultimate source of forged documents, though he may be, himself, the actual forger. It doesn't mean it was his original idea. I don't think I said he is the "brains" behind the scheme.

I've only noted that he is a Democrat operative in the state of Texas. Thus, part of the story is, "Democrat operative provides forged documents to libel president."

Where it goes from that point is another question.

But I think it's important to establish that Mr. Burkett is not some lone, non-political former Guardsmen, but a cog in the Democrat machine, and not even a disguised cog.

How the fact that this man is a Democrat operative could be a distraction is beyond me.

'Texans for Truth' [Moveon.org 527] Ad Buy Challenges Bush on Texas National Guard Service

More info for me to go thru:
________________________________
'Texans for Truth' is getting its turn at bat today, just in time for the 60 Minutet II interview with Former Texas Lt. Governor Ben Barnes tonight.

'Texans for Truth' is an arm of Drive Democracy, an Austin based group that got its initial funding from the liberal group Moveon.Org.

The Moveon PAC and Moveon Voter Fund have spent about $7 million since March 1 on anti Bush TV ads.

Drive Democracy is run by Glenn Smith who managed the unsuccessful 2002 Texas gubernatorial campaign of Democrat Tony Sanchez.

Smith is a former managing director at the consulting firm Public Strategies, which employs former Texas Governor Ann Richards.

'Texans for Truth plans to spend $100,000 to $200,000 to run the ad for a week in closely contested states that are home to large numbers of families of US troops killed in Iraq.

Such states include Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Oregon and Arizona.

The Bush campagin is crying foul. 'The president served honorably in the National Guard, fulfilled his duties and was honorably discharged,' campaign spokesman Steve Schmidt said.

Somebody needs to really excoriate Pelosi publically big time. She's way too big for her britches.

Actually, IF (and it's a big IF!) they ever existed, I think Burkett IS the actually of the "original" (ie, hand-scribbled documents) that were the foundation of the typed forgeries.

More likely, somebody either read the original hand-scribbled notes (taken/stolen/removed from trash can) from Killian's desk after he died and then typed them up. then re-typed them as "Official memo's" to make Dan Rather's story "sweeter" ....

Or, somebody fabricated them "whole colth" from converstations with a democrat insider (i.e., the old secretary) and soembody who was in the reserves at the Austin headquarters at the time ("Austin is not happy") who knew the players' names involved.

So Burkett created (re-typed paper notes, or forged "originals") to match stories from the secretary and matched details from the April 27 Kerry press release to back up the forgeries.

Remember, Dan Rather's FIRST defense on Monday was that "these memo's exactly match the missing records in Bush's files. Therefore they must be true!"

I can trace this to August of 2003.
Last year, when we had the Great North American Black-out, Democratic Mayor Jane Campbell issued a press release urging folks to drink plenty of water, blah blah.

What had occurred prior to her release was the water pumps were out of power and everyone was being told not to drink it. How does this connect?

She's held funding for major DNC folks, as well as Kerry/Edwards. When the power was out, SHE WAS IN TEXAS for an unscheduled, unpublicized, and never explained trip.

Wonder where other Democrats were during that day?

That's very interesting. By the way, Al Gore called Dan Rather to apologize. "It's all my fault--I never should have invented that Internet thing."

Re:"legitimately unstable"

I don't want Freepers pushing this argument. Then the Dems will say he's a "lone crazed forger on the grassy knoll"

The Dems will try to avoid the argument that this was a concerted plot between CBS and the Dems to sway the election using forges documents.

Dear Robert A. Cook, PE,

"More likely, somebody either read the original hand-scribbled notes (taken/stolen/removed from trash can) from Killian's desk after he died and then typed them up. then re-typed them as 'Official memo's' to make Dan Rather's story 'sweeter' ...."

Why? Why not just preserve the handwritten documents? They'd have much greater impact, be much easier to authenticate. They never existed, that's why.

CBS had been asking lots of folks detailed questions for lots of years, like, "Do you know of any memos where Bush is ordered to take a physical?"

Whoever created the forgeries listened to CBS' wish list of questions, and wrote the memos to fulfill those wishes.

It's clear that the DNC and the Kerry campaign coordinated their whole "Fortunate Son" charade with the release of the memos.
