Re Photos:

The retouched picture of Abderraouf Jdey does resemble the translator I met in an internet cafe in Philly last summer.

However, the fellow I met was:

ALOT skinnier
and POOR

The guy I met said he was:

in his forties
a French/Arabic translator
looking for employment
had lived in NYC prior to Philly
was chronically ANGRY about lack of money
always alone
visited internet cafe and bookstores
made intrusive comments
said he had to offer extra cash to obtain his apartment- was
angry about this and quite cynical
had business cards made up advertising himself as a translator

disappeared after the initial "Muslims leave NYC/DC/LA and the East Side (coast)" warning was initially made.

came back one other time, months later- with briefcase in h and. He was NOT friendly.

I found the timing of his departure suspicious at the time. (Same time the fruit vendor decided to leave his post near Penn Station in NYC)

I also found it strange that an educated person who could translate English/Arabic/French could not find some kind of employment, especially in NYC...
