Suspicious Package Prompts Evacuation Of Post Office, Disruption At School
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A briefcase in a shopping cart in front of the Kings Road post office closed that street to traffic and disrupted activity at both the post office and an elementary school across the street for nearly an hour
Postal authorities alerted police, who responded about 8:30 a.m. with members of the bomb squad. The general mail facility and several homes and businesses in the immediate area were evacuated, and students at John E. Ford Elementary were moved away from the street.
In just under an hour, police announced the brief case did no contain anything dangerous and everything returned to normal. (snip)
