I'm not learning Arabic just for the enormous fun (ok, *misery* might fit better here) of doing so. ;)
I've heard about the backlog myself from the person who started the program at UConn. I can only imagine what is still sitting around un-translated. It's one of my sticking points on Iraq when my dunder-head liberal friends try to 'explain how it really is' in regards to the war, WMD, etc. I just hope we can catch up before it is too late, I still don't think many people realize how much they could help the country by learning Arabic. The program has continued in our school, but I think this may be the last year, there are only 5 new students beginning this semester.
