Taliban troops were trained in Pakistan in huge numbers for fighting in Afghanistan and from what I've read (which we all know how accurate the press is these days!) these battles are being fought largely by people from outside (such as those who trained in Pakistan). My prior link was not indicative of that, I agree. I'm sure you know more about it than I could begin to comprehend. Just glad you are here to offer your observtions about the situation.

OK, now I see your linkage. Definitely Pakistan in the past has provided a safe haven prior to the Taliban taking over Afganistan and unoffically does so today in the 'warlord' zones in isolated areas along the Paki-Afgan border.
