Matthews is just saying that Kerry's campaign should hit back like Zell hit him. That's reasonable political advice. Kerry was shredded in NYC. If he wants to stay afloat, he has to do likewise. How's that controversial?

"That's a rich guy having fun. Where are his friends?", asked Chris.
Chris may have inadvertently exposed a real problem area for Kerry...his lack of friends. Like, other democrat senators making the talk show rounds for their guy. I haven't seen them, have you?

The media is interview themselves because nobody at kamp kerry has "gravitas".
The media is just plain stunned. They are harder hit than the kerry compound. The whole worldview has be rejected en mass. Their credibility as a news source is nil.
There only hope is ........ kerry.

"Kerry needs to open [Pres. Bush] up like a can of tuna fish" Sure, you can find ways to criticise Bush, since he's not perfect, and since, even if he is, things don't always go perfectly.
But if Kerry succeeds in "opening him up," what he'll find is an honest straight shooter with vision who cares about doing what's right.
OTOH, if you open up Kerry, you'll find blind ambition mixed with socialism.

he would have done *everything* differently. Guess he would have scrapped the smart bombs and fought the war with BB's and punji sticks. Great line, glgb!
Keep it up and I'll have to start calling you "Zell GovernsLeast"

Matthews fantasized that in October, Clinton will make a dramatic comeback that will create "overwhelming sentiment" in places such as the inner city and south Florida. "He could be a Lazarus."I am seriously afraid of this happening.

Matthews: "The Bush campaign destroyed Kerry's credibility and it's been working really, really well. Kerry needs to play the same kind of hardball and discredit Bush, but must do it carefully." Kerry destroyed Kerry's credibility. He got the Dem nomination by default, and now people are getting a chance to see what the junior senator from Massachusetts is made of--and it's not the right stuff. Had the Dems nominated Gephart, they could've had a serious race. For all his flaws, I don't believe he is a traitor. Kerry is a cartoon, a caricature. His campaign has done only one good thing for the Democrats. It has demonstrated that they were, after all, right about Clinton--compared to other Democrats, Clinton is moderate.
When Matthews says play hardball, he means keep shouting, lie about what the opposition is saying, and don't give them a chance to respond.

The "can of tuna" remark shows off just how crude Matthews is and how weird his thoughts can be. If we hear that this guy winds up in a padded cell someday, do not be surprised...

Chris "I joined the Peace Corps because I didn't have the balls to join the Marine Corps" Matthews has about as much credibility as a screen door on a submarine!
As the TV ratings proved, very few watch NBC and they definitely don't watch "Spitball" so if anything is said on NBC it's like a tree falling in an empty forest...
Whether it's 7 or 11 points, W is in the lead and a month has gone by and the Traitor has yet to have a press conference to respond to the allegations by the Swiftees.
All the while, the Navy is investigating the Traitor's military record and by the time they get through the Traitor will be lucky if he gets to keep his "fire-watch" ribbon! LMAO
You can put a fork in the Traitor, 'cause that turkey is D O N E !

I think it is a good idea for Kerry to get as much advise as possible on how to run his campaign from as many people as possible. It's been working great for him so far.
To: governsleastgovernsbest
Sorry Chrissy, but in the home(s) of John Kerry Heinz there is not likely to be one can of tuna, much less instructions for opening it.

Pay no mind to Matthews. It's difficult seeing your candidate's chances of becomning President evaporate more and more on a daily basis. Clearly he already saw the polls numbers for today, poor thing.
To: governsleastgovernsbest
Sounds like Matthews explained well what happened to the Kerry campaign, that the Bush campaign has destroyed his credibility. By saying Kerry had to do the "same thing" but do it "carefully" he is offering good advice. Any GOP consultant or pundit in a moment of candor might say the same thing.

"Kerry needs to open [Pres. Bush] up like a can of tuna fish on his credibility, his soft spots."The President has had his credibility hammered for years by everyone on the left... a continous barrage. It's been done to death.
There isn't any Bush bash left.

Well I half expect bjclinton to walk out of that hospital claiming to have seen the "LIGHT" and take up preaching.
Chrissy sure sees him as a "god".
