Kerry Calls Bush "All Hat, No Cattle" In Ohio Speech [another sign of Kerry's brain damage]

Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry traveled by bus across Ohio Friday.

Kerry held a "front porch" discussion at the home a laid-off worker in Newark.

Kerry spoke to about 75 people in a neighborhood of modest, one-story homes and then later held a campaign rally in the town described as a mix between blue- and white-collar workers.

A Kerry spokeswoman says Newark was chosen in part because it has lost jobs, making it a good place for Kerry to tout his program for creating new ones.

Kerry told people they had to be part of the solution and not get frustrated.

Ohio's job losses are a key issue in the swing state.

Kerry also focused on his opponent's track record, saying that President Bush didn't keep the promises he made as a candidate four years ago and pledged to do better if elected.

Kerry summed up Bush's convention speech in four words: "All hat, no cattle."

"This president and the Republican Party will say anything and do anything to get re-elected, anything except take care of middle-class families that are struggling in this country," Kerry said.

Kerry referred to Friday's report of slower-than-expected job growth as one example of Bush's failed promises and said, "I don't think this is something to celebrate."

Smarting from criticism at the Republican convention of his military record in Vietnam and his fitness to be president, Kerry lashed out at Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.

"If you think America four years later is moving in the right direction, if you think your lives are better, you go vote for George Bush," Kerry told the group gathered on the front lawn of Mark and Debbie Bickle's pale yellow, ranch-style house.

"But if you think we can do better, we want you to join this cause and change the direction of this country," the Democratic presidential candidate said.

Polls show Kerry and President Bush virtually tied in Ohio.

Bush is scheduled to arrive in Cleveland tonight.

Kerry has finsihed strong in one race, and that was against Weld. Weld never convinced anyone he wanted to be senator, and the Boston media was 110% for Kerry.

He also had a last-minute injection of cash from mortgaging the Beacon Hill house the first time (which broke the agreement he had with Weld about limiting spending). And, as I recall, he got 52% of the vote in that election -- not all that "strong" for a dem in MA. (I voted for the Conservative, who didn't have a prayer but was actually endorsed by National Review on the rationale that, not only was Weld a RINO, but one with a likable personality, which would make him more dangerous than an out-and-out liberal dem.)

All hat no cattle…or Big Hat, No Cattle…is a fairly common saying rancher/cowboy country. Mr. Silverback defined it correctly in post #68. It should only be used by people who live between the Mississippi and the Rockies…and only by people who have the cattle to back up the hat.

"I wonder if Kerry even knew what he meant with that line or did someone tell him to say it?
Maybe the same person who gave him the baseball stats?"

It could have been kerry's FAVORITE Red Sox player:"Manny Ortiz".

He won't be able to .. Bush & Cheney have never questioned Kerry's service in the war

However .. The SBV's and the POW's have .. I believe in the documentary is where you'll find they question Kerry's integrity

Kerry is doing the same thing he did back in the primaries when many on the Internet were looking into his history .. he blamed it on Bush & Cheney

Betcha don't remember who the comedian was who said that.
(Actually, it was "dain bramage") He was a great comic who faded into obscurity rather quickly. Haven't seen a trace of him for years.

Today's email joke: Enjoy

There are less than two months until the election, an election that will
decide the next President of the United States. The man elected will be
the president of ALL Americans, not just the Democrats or the Republicans.

To show our solidarity as Americans, let's all get together and show each
other our support for the candidate of our choice. It's time that we all
came together, Democrats and Republicans alike.

If you support the policies and character of President George W. Bush,
please drive with your headlights 'ON' during the day.

If you support John Kerry, please drive with your headlights 'OFF' at
night.

I've been in Texas my whole life, and I've always heard it "all hat, no cattle."

"I've been in Texas my whole life, and I've always heard it "all hat, no cattle.""

I didn't say "no ranch" was correct. Just what some radio show caller said. I have no dog in this fight, or, as Kewwy would probably say, no pooch in this spat.

Bush calls himself a "windshield cowboy"....has pick-up truck, a ranch, and one cow (as I recall).

I also remember seeing a pic of Kerry in a black cowboy hat, picking a guitar (Gene Autrey imitation?), and a $9000 bike, ski jacket w/daisy zipper pull, wind surf board w/coordinating spandex...........Where's HIS cow?
