They all behave differently, whether we're talking Atlantic hurricanes alone or Pacific hurricanes alone or comparing both.
85 miles south south west of Orlando.
Eye of Hurricane.
So, North Port made it through the storm, for those having family and friends in that area.
Pres Bush has declared Florida a federal disaster area.
Just spoke to my relatives who are very near to where she is (just a couple of miles away). They said that it wasn't bad at allsome rain, a little wind. That isn't to say that they won't get hit by a band here and there, but the worst part (worrying that the eye could hit them) is over.
My wife thanks you so very much , me too!
What are these "pool cages" I keep hearing about. Gotta say I've never heard of 'em.
thanks for any info
I am seeing that right now.....Morrisville, moving N and E
Appreciate the prayers!
Whoa . . . Texas Coast! Y'all see alot of hurricane action too, don't you?
Prayers and best wishes to all FReepers and their families and relatives in Florida, Georgia, South & North Carolina.
I'm safe and dry up here in Penna, and we expect "Charley" to *visit* us Saturday afternoon, evening and Sunday morning.
snyder: you suck for that lousy comment!
should be OK, the eye went to the east of that location.
Almost into Polk County now, still moving up Hwy 17.
Passed over Wauchula, heading towards Bowling Green.
Fort Meade next up.
Are you kidding? If Pres. Bush went to Florida now, it would be seen to be taking advantage of a disaster for political gain, which is exactly what you're suggesting. There's no practical reason for him to go now, assuming he needs to go at all. He has declared the place a federal disaster area; all he needs to do is make sure the funds are made available quickly. Pres. Bush will go after the storm, and it will most likely be kept low key, so that he won't be accused of "ignoring" the victims, and at the same time not exploiting the situation for political gain.
Now I cannot even go to bed if we have a strong chance of bad weather during the night. One night I stayed up waiting for a cold front to pass and I saw bright green lightning!
Lately we have been dodging bullets:') (Brownsville)
I agree (not to go political here) - he should go to the Ft Myers and Orlando area with his brother.
I have no clue. I haven't seen or read any reports from that area.
but the point is, Kerry will go - so Bush has to.
They probably don't know yet.
Dark, windy, still raining, no power, trees down and hundreds of roads blocked?
We won't know until tommorrow morning.
On the northern part of the eye-wall the winds will be blowing west - out to sea.
On the southern part of the eye-wall the winds will be blowing east,
pushing the water towards the coastline.
