I think he was just referring to the income tax --- which is really the government confiscation the profits of our labor --- which is what slavery also is. Labor should not be taxed --- and wasn't during the time of the Founding Fathers.

Well, I earn 21000 dollars tax free, and then when I want to buy a car, suddenly, the government taxes away (aka steals) a third of it under the name of something called a sales or value added tax, and I can only buy a car worth 14000 dollars. Slavery! Larceny! And since I am a poor middle class working slob, and have to spend most of my money on such stuff, and this be an enslaved victim of larceny, while Bill Gates gets to keep most of what he makes tax free. Moreover, as a nascent geezer, who has already paid income taxes on most of what I will be able to salt away, suddenly what I have left, will be pouched again by the insatiable Leviathan, with a 33% sales tax. I am so screwed. I made 21000, and only get to spend 9324 on the car, with the government taking 11676. Do you see how this works? So far, we really have made zippo progress on the merits. We are just trading quips.
