Whatever you usually think of him, tune into Savage live now!
He's spending the show (again) on getting the swiftboat vets story out there. His guest will be, for the second time, the machine gunner who served with John Kerry on his boat. Steve Gardner, I believe is his name.
Also, Savage is expressing his disappointment with Fox News, specifically O'Reilly, for spiking this story and essentially calling the veterans liars. Savage says it's because O'Reilly wants to get John Kerry on his show.

Gardner (IIRC) several months ago said he was [at that time] never contacted by anyone on the major media about Kerry. This was during the Primaries when the media were saying all Kerry's crewmates supported Kerry. Gardner finally came forward, voluntarily, to say he didn't support Kerry and the media never contacted him because they knew he didn't support Kerry.

Well, apparently Gardner isn't featured in the ad, but he is part of the SBV for Truth group. The lawyers all know good and well that these guys in the ad weren't on Kerry's boat, but they have not claimed to be. One of Kerry's ads shows him surrounded by these guys and says that they back him. I think that's where the vets have a legitimate message. By insinuating that all of those in that picture are supporting him, Kerry's trashed their good names and now, they have to do this to get their good names back!

Gardner says he has the SITREP itself that John Kerry himself wrote about the rice sampan incident. He says Kerry wrote that there was 5000 lbs of rice in the sampan (not possible) and that Kerry claims 4 guys jumped out of the boat and fled to the beach. Gardner says he (Gardner) is the only one who shot someone (a VC) on that boat.

Gardner discussing Effen's first Purple Heart. He says Kerry's "fabric of lies" is coming back to bite him in the butt. He says there's no SITREP and no casualty report for the incident. There has to be hostile action, and this was a self-inflicted wound.

Gardner was 1st class gunner's mate on Kerry's boat for 2 1/2 months on PCF44 from November through January. Savage is citing the SF Chronicle article that says, "All surviving crew members from Kerry's boat are supporting his campaign."
