What bothers me most, and has for about a year, is when people pop up with '98 screen names- people I've NEVER heard of. Either they're selling '98 names on Ebay, or hacking the server is up for discussion. Makes me wonder.

"Either they're selling '98 names on Ebay,"

I just checked, the closet thing to Free Republic I could find on Ebay was this:

NWT BANANA REPUBLIC PINK SATIN TRIM COAT FREE BAG HOT!!

I've noticed that, too.

Trident/Delta is an old-time FReeper.

He hasn't been much in evidence for the last few years, though.

Maybe you don't remember Trident/Delta because you are such a newbie.

Why? You interested in buying one?

Make ME wonder why Dec31,1999 registered on 6/19/99.

Now, hold up. I registered in '99, usually lurk, and most posts are in the wee hours. However, I can still talk about the ASH ALERTS, Don Morgan, Freeper Island, Eschoir, All Your Base, and that atrocious black backgound in the early days . . .

Some of us just don't feel the need to talk overmuch.

We always get an influx of trolls in election years..'98, 00, '02, and now. Evidently some of them have kept their registrations current.

We seem to have a lot more of them during this Presidential Election year than ever before.

I like to toy with them awhile, before coming in for the kill.

Trust me - T/D has been around here for quite a while. *I* was forced to change my screen name because MadAsHell was too close to Mad-As-Hell when Jim and John Robinson changed over the software used to control this site. Jim sent me a nice note asking if I would be willing to change screen names. While I was certainly partial to MadAsHell :-), I happily went along, but only with the caveat that I'd be allowed to keep my original sign-on registration date.
