I've been thinking about helping out the campaign in some capacity, but am unsure of what type of activities are usually and what type of time commitment are needed.
I live in Chester County, Pennsylvania, which is a crucial battleground area.
Any other Freepers out there who are also volunteers willing to shed some light on to as to what is needed?
Thanks.
Yep....what Rockingham said....I worked 4.5 hours at our County Repub office yesterday......broke down cardboard boxes, retrieved 72 voice mail messages, answered visitors/callers questions, played with putting glitter on invitations to upcoming Auction.....just go with the flow.
I volunteered last election, I put yard signs together by the thousands.
Is there a link to find a center closest to me?
I'm in the Northern Virginia area.
I volunteered this year for the first time in my life- a lot of it is drudge work (calling people on the phone who don't really want to talk to you is no fun) but we all know that this election is all-important. Our future, the future of our kids and grandkids rides on this election.
Besides the things other folks have mentioned, there's the Party for the President (next one is Sep.2) You can sign up on the campaign site, and it's a great way to come together with other supporters and get energized.
In all reality, how much effectiveness is there in canvass calling?
I have my doubts - I watched a presentation the other day about the final 72 hours before the election. Apparently, after the 2000 election the party did a lot of research on why the election was so close. They concluded that voter turnout is the key (duh) - So for the midterms they initiated a new stategy of contacting potential voters as much as possible - they aim for 3.7 contacts in the final month, and 2.2 in the last 72 hours. They claim it made all the difference in the 2002 election, and was responsible for the great results. I have my doubts on that, there were obviously other factors, like a show of support for the troops and the President. But I'm willing to slog through their phone lists - anything to help the President.
ROTFL!!!!
My husband wants to know where she got it?
One good idea I heard was to have convention night parties, where friends are invited to listen to Bush accept the nomination and to brainstorm on activities to get out the vote.
