Was this a letter to the editor or was he hired by Al Hunt and works as a rat for the WSJ?

Not sure about compensation, but this piece (of crap) was on the main editorial page where you might normally see a column from Peggy Noonan or Dorthy Rabinowitz or Dan Henninger (or the leaders of 12 European nations expressing their solidarity with the US), not on the letters page.
