Why I'm Voting for John Kerry

As a first-generation American I care passionately for this country and I fear for its future. And as an active Democrat, I support the Kerry-Edwards ticket for two fundamental reasons: First, I believe that their view of America and of our domestic economic and social priorities will improve the prospects of a better future for all Americans; and second, I believe that their view of America's position in the world and its relationship to our allies will make us safer in today's dangerous global environment.

The Bush administration came into office with a wealth of experience and a radical view of our domestic as well as of our foreign policy. Their domestic economic policies consisted of large transfers of wealth to upper-income Americans through tax cuts, of large deficits, a cheap dollar and high levels of debt. Significant increases in defense, a recession and the war in Iraq added hundreds of billions of dollars to the deficit. Internationally, the administration took an equally radical approach, jeopardizing 50 years of American leadership on a whole range of international institutions and agreements.

The initial reaction of the Bush administration to the events of 9/11 was thoroughly effective and professional. It assembled a broad international coalition, under a U.N. resolution, and won a quick military victory in Afghanistan. And then it was diverted to Iraq, ignoring the objections of key allies and the U.N. and ending up in the morass we see today.

Four years into its term, both the domestic and foreign policies of the Bush administration have, in many respects, failed. Our budget, currency, debt and trade balance, have all deteriorated dramatically; our deficits and sagging dollar have raised the potential of an eventual financial crisis. What is more, I believe that Americans are less safe -- despite the capture of Saddam Hussein -- and less well off, despite the rise in the stock market.

And this clown is an investment banker? I don't want him anywhere around my money!

Investment banking normally refers to business to business relationships. Raising capital through IPOs, secondary offerings and the like.

I understand. I guess we are so able to point out to other countries corruption, and "typically ignor our own? I did not mean to sound off on you, but on our Washington policy makers in general. As you see all who attempt to response back to me on my comments failed to explain any and all of the points that I have raised. Here we have a born again President who is "unable" to act against a small country as Sudan despite its Islamic terror on millions of its citizens. If you ask me how that is corruption, I will say it is back to the Saudi lobby, and the big wigs on the take!

How can we respond to this in a convincing way?

Its really very simple Senator. With help of the media, hollywood, and public schools, the wackjob liberal left has effectively brainwashed the majority of Americans to buy into the notion of victimization, the notion that we need government for all our answers, the notion that we are not responsible for anything, and that peace and appeasement at all costs is a viable foreign policy strategy. Liberals act like a bunch of teenagers...they want everyone to like them and stay in power...and they'll do anything (including selling out the United States) to accomplish this. Its the easy, selfish way out. Not shocking though...doing the right thing is not always easy. Appeasing is so much easier. We won't convince anyone to change their mind. If Kerry wins, the liberal leaning electorate will get exactly what they want. Thy're beyond help...its like people who have been in a cult...it takes years of de-programming before that particular person is sane, whole, and productive again.

It is one thing to be proud of our country, and it is another thing to think that we are too perfect for this world.

To paraphrase Sir Winston Churchill, the United States is the worst country in the world, except for all the others.

Sir Winston Churchill said the US is the only country in the world without corruption. Not!

Its not a question of saying there is no corruption in the US. The point is that the US is the most moral, responsible, and compassionate nation in this planet's history. By a long shot.

I am glad that you think so. I was just wondering if the murder of 2 million Christian in Sudan qualify for moral or compassionate action from us? I was wondering if bombing Serbia on Easter Sunday because they were fighting Islamic terrorists insurgency from the Arab Moslem nations is a Moral thing? Better yet, after we realized how evil was these Islamic terrorists, we still call them "rebels" when they mess with Russia, or Kosovo! We are still trying to continue the policy of shame in the Balcan! You need to take off these rosy color glasses.

It is hard to understand why an investment banker would be committing to the 'socialist path'; the socialist view of the world. . .

I am wondering; why did his family come to America; what did they leave behind? Whatever it was; it would appear that this 'first generation' American has already embraced the 'old country' in his Democrat politics and Left/wing view of the world.

Was he seduced by the lie as he has been seduced by John Kerry? Did he simply fall for the lie; or perhaps, he carries the remmants of a failed Europe in his genes.

If America follows John Kerry; we will ultimately be impoverished by burdensome taxes and high interest rates; small businesses will be punished into eventual non-existance.

We will be dominated by a government-dependent population; we will have relinquished our sovereignty to the the corrupted UN. Our country will be wounded and weakened by socialistic policies; rooted not in a 'good' but rather an evil.

As for France; with friends such as this; who needs enemies?

But hey, it is Mr. Rohatyn's vote; and his choice.

Prefer the truth and the warning of J.P. O'Rourke. . .'Socialism is communism; one step away'. . .

There you go again trying to "prove" the the US isn't perfect. You say the US did not do enough for Somolia?

So who else did?

The US is directly responsible for billions of people freed from opression in the past half-century. Again, no other nation comes close. And what's this "we" crap? If I remember correctly from dealing with you in the past, you are NOT an American.

I wish these idiots who write these stupid letters or columns would assert with some credibility that under certain circumstances, they would consider voting for the side they are now claiming they arne't voting for. In other words, if I were to write an article, it might be useful in terms of argument, but hardly useful in terms of voting objectivity. I will NEVER vote for a RAT, so writing an article saying I'm voting for GWB isn't exactly saying much.

So essentially, the article comes down to argument, and we all know it is woeful in that area.

You have quite the anti-American attitude, don't you.

Why don't you run for office and then you could fix everything that is wrong in the world.
