A 23-year-old female teacher in Tampa, Fla., was arrested Monday for the second time on charges of having sex with a 14-year-old male student.
Debra Lafave, (pictured, Below) was accompanied by her new attorney, John Fitzgibbons as she surrendered to Marion County deputies in Ocala.
Lafave, who is married, is a reading teacher at Greco Middle School in Temple Terrace, just northeast of Tampa.
The new charges accuse Lafave of pursuing the 14-year-old student to Ocala, Fla., while he was visiting his 15-year-old cousin.
Detectives said Lafave had sex with the student twice in Ocala - once in the back seat of her car while the cousin drove around town and then again in the car while parked at Brick City Park.
In police statements made by the 15-year-old witness, Lafave allegedly said that she was turned-on by the fact that what she was doing was illegal, WFTS-TV reported.
Lafave has been place on administrative leave.

i think the reality is this: did this "sexual abuse" actually injure the boy in any way. if it did, prosecute her. but i think most males would bet that the positive effects (of the "abuse") would probably outweight the negative.
This is all very classic...
Had this been a girl with a male teacher...there would be outrage.

She's oviously psychologically messed up, but how she got that way is anyone's guess. Wonder if she was sexually molested by an adult as a child or teen herself. Isn't that often the case?
If the teacher were a male having sex with a 14 yr. old girl he'd be serving serious jail time. For this reason, it's hard to not see this as a crime.
do you think this injured the boy? (he was apparently bragging at school that he had sex with a hot teacher.) i think boys and girls may be different, and i think who does the abuse and how it is done play a role in determining whether the victim is injured.
even if it had been a really ugly female teacher with a boy, people would have been outraged. but, despite what the law says, i suspect most boys would be lining up for this teacher.
i suspect things such as atttactiveness, height, weight, and age of a female teacher all make a difference in terms of whether or not it is experienced as abuse.
how many boys would really be injured if it were an attractive, petite, young, "sweet" female teacher? i realize that the law can't take these things into consideration, but i suspect the psyche of the victim does.
No. If your a teenaged guy and their's a babe-olicious teacher its impossible to concentrate enough to learn what shes' teaching, especially if its something as boring as contraction's.

Some have focused on whether this act has harmed the boy or not. Others have treated it like it was nothing, simply because they fantasized about it while they were in school. The simple fact is if she committed statutory rape according to the law in her jurisdiction or otherwise violated a law, then she should be punished.
