If you zoom out on that map, it shows Ottawa directly north of Sandwich.

Just cause you live near by or central to anything doesn't mean you will feel anything. Depends on a lot of things such as are you on the fault line, how secure your house foundation is, what the surrounding ground structure is like, what thype of quake it was....and on and on

Yeah runs by diagonal from about Dixon and between Sandwich and Ottawa. I think the last time it shook was in 1999 and most of the damage was in Dixon I believe.

I never knew it existed until tonight. One thing good about it is that is not very active and will not produce a quake over 5.0

Time to crash...

Time for the J bolts to secure your stringers...works out here rather nicely...Just don't lock your brick chimney into the back wall structure it will take out the rest of the house and leave you with one standing chimney...(that's what my silly neighbor did just before the OCt 89 quake hit at Loma Prieta)...Strap your hot water heater to the wall studs...and always have a spare food and water kit. Know how to turn off the gas...Then you will be in good shape...;)

Different plates so not a fair comparison...DOesn't address things as mundane as population concentration...and we have no measure of how much undersea damage happened in the 06 quake cause that fault runs out to the Pacific....But what it should do is give everyone along the Mississippi a head's up to get their earthquake preparedness up to date on the QT

Ah just typical of certain types of quakes...first you hear the train and then it hits the house...smack...then you pick up the dishes, pet the animals that are going nuts, and go back to bed...lol
