Yea, as Americans we were acting like Nazis when we destroyed Hitler's war machine and freed Europe, firebombed the Japanese, and eventually nuked two cities.
We were conducting Blitzkrieg operations when we fought the expansion of Communism in Korea and Vietnam. Haven't you heard, it's a WORLD WAR on terrorism? Hide under your desk and maybe that will do some "good" and you will be safe until they come for your head.
Although leveling 'Mecca' (or any other nation that spawned terrorists) would not make any friends...it would illustrate to all ME leaders and terrorists who are hell-bent on blood letting, it will be their own.
Context is your friend. Please make an effort to understand and use the concept of "context," and you can thereby avoid looking and acting foolish.
If you've paid any attention to my posts in this thread, you'll have noted that I applied the term "acting like nazis" to one type of suggestion only -- that of retaliating against individual terrorist acts by leveling Iraqi cities (and also the occasional suggestion of killing all the inhabitants who managed to escape). I have noted the similarities between such tactics (and their motives) to the nazi atrocity at Lidice.
Nobody has yet seen fit to counter the similarity. Instead, there have been attempts to justify the act, on generally ill-considered grounds. Many have dispensed with reason altogether, and have chosen to toss around insults instead.
BTW, you might have picked up on the fact that the beheadings, and probably many of the other attacks, are being done by non-Iraqis. (Certainly the 50+ folks our bombs killed in Fallujah in the past couple of days were foreigners.) I'm sure you'd agree that destroying Iraqi cities in response to the actions of Saudi or Syrian terrorists would be a remarkably stupid thing to do.
If you have read this thread, you will also note that I have discussed WWII bombings on this thread. IF you pay attention to those posts, you'll find that your little sermon was not required.
