Probably was a private matter (in the home/ among close friends) and shouldn't have been mentioned in a eulogy to the masses. Why? Ron wanted it in there, it was of significance to him, and it's his father's funeral. That's all the criteria needed.

And what little Ron wants is what little Ron gets. Appears he's been doing that all his life and it shows.
Ron's probably nearing his late 40's and during all those years, that's all he could come up with to eulogize his dad! Puleezzeee.....
