STOP Michael Moore and his Fahrenheit 9/11
Move America Forward - Newsmax ^ | 06/11/2004 | Move America Forward

Posted on 06/11/2004 12:31:44 PM PDT by Impeach98

The national organization, Move America Forward, is asking Americans who are offended by Michael Moore's "Bash America" movie to voice their opinions to movie industry executives.

We've compiled a list of email addresses and other contact information for the leading movie industry chains - as well for those theaters who have already announced their intention to show "Fahrenheit 9/11."

Please Note - We note Mr. Moore's constitutional right to free speech. What we also acknowledge that Mr. Moore and his backers seem uncomfortable with is that the millions of Americans who are offended by his lies, his attacks on our troops and our president have the right to speak up and say what we think about his "documentary" to the people who will profit from showing it.

Please read more about our efforts - this is the link - http://www.moveamericaforward.org/newsmax/

After it was pre-screened, one Blame American First viewer cried, “It made me wanna burn my passport.”

I would rather they burn their passport after they leave the country.

One of the secrets that Reagan understood was that one has to keep the capacity to laugh at one's opponents.

Right now, everyone is acting as Moore's press agent. If we laughed at him, his films would have little impact.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Who cares about this film. Any moron that is going to vote for Kerry based on seeing this film was a lost cause a long time ago.

Dont feed the hype, dont go to the film and boycott anything associated with it.

How many before theaters refuse to show it?

Maybe that's the plan.

This is what I have sent to each and every link you have offered out of "free speech" considerations; even though this film and Moore's other film does outrage me in the highest degree.

Please add a disclaimer to Michael Moore's film that the subject matter may not be documented in historical fact..which it is not, incidentally and still remains under the genre of a documentary film. This is only a theory by this one man, Mr. Moore, and those paid by him to manufacture this said propagandized film..; therefore this could unfortunately incite the uninformed to commit horrific acts which we could witness in the near future. Therefore, you could be held responsible as part of that outcome certainly morally and even perhaps even legally in some cases. The result would bring unpopular attention to your place of business. A disclaimer would indicate Moore's opinion, and it is just an opinion, is not necessarily that of this theater management. This disclaimer should be placed in a highly visible area where all might see. We all want free speech to remain a freedom many brave men and women have died for, perhaps members of your own families; but I would never yell out FIRE in your movie theater out of sheer common sense of the consequences. Please implement this action in all fairness to your theater patrons.

This may be a soft response but under the right of free speech granted to all of us; the more in question that the Moore films are suspect of being credible documentaries..the less viewing audience he might achieve, less notoriety and perhaps the less chance of violence toward notable figures in this country which we cannot dismiss is incited through films such as these. A documentary in the true sense of the word it is not.

Moore appeared on the MTV Movie Awards, asking all the kids to go see his movie. He said there was lots of action sequences and a love scene in the Rose Garden. (This was supposed to be funny). He said that's why the guy in the White House doesn't want you to see it. I'm only worried about this movie if we, the opposition, gives it more importance than we should.

Aaaah, breaking the law would make me no better than Moore. I prefer to counter Moore's 'free speech' with the speech of myself and millions of other Americans.

The only speech hollywood cares about is BOXOFFICE

Don't pay to see this crap and it will soon be in the bargain bin at dollar world

This is the response I recieved immediately from my email as written in Post #108..the others have been out of the office:

"Yes, we do intend to do just that.
And thank-you for one of the more intelligent and reasonable of the mass emails that all of the theaters have been receiving.

I know theater owners that were conservative Republicans until all of the carefully-orchestrated emails starting arriving!

It's all about "free-speech", and that is what our soldiers died for.

Agreed.

Mentioning or speaking of Moore should not be done.

Moore is savy with taping into anti-americanism. Realise his movie is cheep to make, next to nothing in movie terms.

He makes mega money OVERSEAS. Imagine how much the french and germans will buy this stuff up.

I bet most of his wealth is in euros.

If we want to hurt moore, re-elect Bush.

Next pust the EU ecconmy over the tipping point.

It would not be beyond the realm for this organization to be part of the PR machine.

It is BS, anyone who wants to see it should feel free to see it. Viewing that drivel will only make them stupider.

Not buying or renting F 9-11 (which has been attacked by Ray Bradbury, the author of the novel Fahrenheit 341 that Moore has stolen the title from) does not suffice in the case of this full frontal assault on the Republicans and Dubya by the release of this docudrama.

Moore's flaky fabrication directly attacks one political party and its leader while Hollywood offers nothing as a counter.

As I see it there are two ways to counter this dangerous precedent being set by Moore and Hollywood:

1) Show a counter documentary refuting the lies in the Moore piece;

2) Mount an all out attack on media and the theaters who show it THIS YEAR before the election! We should clearly point out that we want to postpone the showing until after the election in the spirit of fairness! The argument should be couched in terms of fairness and fair play.

Doing nothing but complaining and boycotting does a disservice to the campaign and to free speech. Imagine if no one had spoken out against the Reagan TV movie. It would have been aired in prime time without any counter argument, without any discussion at all. A myth would have been created and millions would have assumed it was reality. We battled against it and created a furor undermining its credibility. We need to do this again!

Even telling people NOT to see this movie, or telling theater owners NOT to show this movie is just the attention that Moore wants. The best way to make sure Mikey doesn't get enough money to make another one of his C grade film school Freshman projects is to not even acknowledge that it exists.

Take away his publicity (i.e. telling everyone that it exists) and you take away his money.

Best way to deal with Moore's movie is to boycott the theater chain, and boycott any future films by that theater chain. If we are serious about stopping Moore, boycotting the chain and the advertisers inside the chain would also be a good a idea.
I would also be a good idea to announce this boycott with Fox news.
