I have been sitting here reading this thread and listening to the service. I must comment on something that my son just said. He said:

"Mama, God took President Reagan when WE needed it most. People were beginning to lose hope in this country and our leadership. The only way to get the message out again was for the man who was the flamebearer of hope and love of America to be in the spotlight again. God knew what we needed mama. He knew what President Reagan needed. I see this as divine intervention for our country. Mama, it's what we have been praying for. Not for President Reagan to die but, President Reagan probobly embraced his homegoing for two reasons. One, that he would be with Jesus, whole and complete again. Second, because he would have loved for this nation to have a revival hope and patriotism. We all need to be reminded of what we have in America. Who better to remind us than a president who loved her so much? Mama, I see it as him bringing us all together again like you said he did in the 80's."

I just wanted to share what my 17 yo is thinking while watching this.

Who in God's name had Karl Rove sit behind Al Gore in the church for the funeral? Man, Gore looks like he's gonna drop a load at any sec...

I also liked that Dick Cheny wouldn't shake Hillary's hand-way to stand up for yourself Dick

I cannot figure out if this is a commentary thread where we remark upon what we see and hear. That is what we have always done in the past.

Or if this is a memorial thread. If it's a memorial thread, someone needs to set the ground rules at the beginning of the thread where we will only say things like "there is Clinton", "good speech by Bush", etc.

Personally, I don't know what purpose the second option would serve, but the starter of the thread can choose the rules I guess and those of us who don't like them can start another thread.

This arguing incessantly about who says what is ridiculous and seems to me demeans President Reagan more than any commentary on whether Clinton is asleep or not does.

This funeral is light giving. Full of light and life, not death. I'm impressed.. And to think Ronaldus Maximus coreographed it himself is even more meaningful.. Turned it on the TV just to say I did. Was transfixed. Beautiful as a final act.. Leaves me wanting more.......... God bless the coreographer well done..

I can't ignore the face of evil.

For those of us who are seasoned Clinton watchers, the look on his face today is priceless. He wants to be anywhere but there today, and it shows.

My God, what a glorious rendition of Amazing Grace. That, along with the choir singing the Battle Hymn of the Republic. Chills!

It is like the whole nation is actually at the service.

I hope this thread makes it to the Reagan museum.

Thank you FR.

I second that. I just ignore the Clinton bashing if I don't feel like joining.
