Considering how sensitive wildlife is and how they tend to be a little more "tuned in" to thier surroundings (and sometimes events). . . maybe the pelicans know something we dont.

Are the Pelicans near the Yellowstone area?

If so then expect an earthquake or volcano activity.

They say to watch the ads, as pets get confused and run away.

I have seen it with my cats, they go nuts.

It seems to me that the whole world is one big plate collection and when it happens one place, it also seems to do so across the world. (earthquake)
