28 May 2004 - Al Qaeda lists successes since 9/11 on Global Islamic Media; Includes 2001 downing of American Airlines flight 587 that went down over Queens
In a stunning revelation to the Global Islamic Media Group this morning, Al Qaeda has revealed that they were responsible for the downing of American Airlines flight 587 over Queens in November 2001.
The article, published this morning on Global Islamic Media's Yahoogroup, lists the successes that Al Qaeda has achieved since the attack on America in September 2001. Al Qaeda has previously claimed credit for all of the other attacks on the list. The cause of the AA flight 587 crash is still listed by the FAA as accidental, with no indications of terrorism.
The following list itemizes the attacks that they are claiming:
Downing of the American Airlines plane over the Queens district of New York (City) on the 26th day of Shaban in the (Islamic) year 1422, equivalent to November 12th, 2001, killing 265 passengers as well as residents of that district. Bali nightclub attack in Indonesia that killed more than 200. Attack on Djerba, Tunisia Jewish temple, killing 20 German Jews. Attack at Faylakah in Kuwait. Attack on the French tanker Limburgh in Yemen. Attacks on Mombasa in Kenya against Jewish tourists, who were attacked in the their hotel, and the unsuccessful attack on the El Al airline with two missiles. Attack on the Marriott Hotel in the Indonesian capital Attacks in eastern of Riyadh, on residential districts where Americans and other westerners live Electrical power blockouts in the northern portions of America and the southern areas of Canada Electrical power blackouts in Great Britain. Attacks in Istanbul against the Jewish synagogues. Attachs in Istanbul battles against the British bank and the British consulate, in which the British consul was killed. Battle of Badr Riyadh in the residential complex Attack on the United Nations building in Baghdad in which Sirgo Des Milo, Kofi Annan's envoy, was killed Attacks in Nasserya against the Italian forces Attacks in Casablanca Attempted assassination of a dangerous ally of America, Pervez Musharraf Attacks in Madrid against three trains, killing 200 and injuring more than 1500 injured,

Especially credible wits, like in this case.
Any word of if they had a connection to the Skynyrd plane going down?
Sure they do. But they get evidence to back up the witnesses, or the witnesses' testimony can be shot down by a good defense attorney.
No forensic evidence revealed the presence of explosives or a bomb on this flight.
But, the conspiracists don't care about facts.
Were do you get this stuff sink?
A credible witness is invaluable in any investigation. Two credible wits as in this case would be or should be critical to any investigative summary. If three wits all stated, "the tractor trailer ran through the red light and struck the honda car", would you dismiss this, or consider is unreliable as you stated above?
Did you read #124 above? Lots of people saw lots of different things.
As a matter of fact, any accident investigator of any kind will tell you that eyewitness testimony is the most unreliable testimony of all.
This is a false statement.
Oh shoot, I was just looking for my tinfoil and you foiled it.
I believe it was alQaeda. I also remember Moran (was it Mike or brother of) that told Osama "kiss my royal Irish ass" and told him where he lived...on Rockaway Beach. The crash happened shortly thereafter and close. Imagine the panic that would have unfolded if the govt told us it was binLaden????
The President was pale as a ghost right after that. Granted it might have been something else on his mind, or the flu, but is it likely an ordinary airliner accident would have gotten that reaction? That's the main question I have: why would he react to an accident like that?
Joe, believe whatever you want. Eyewitness testimony is unreliable.
Hehehe. What a statement. Curious sink, how many civil/criminal on-scene investigations have you conducted?
That plane was damaged and "repaired" early in it's history.
Composites have lousy "shear strength" compared to metals.
I have experience with these materials as used in the construction of Formula 1 and Indy style racing cars and my early education on materials and methods of testing came in the military, private corporations, my construction engineer brother, my old college architect major roommate, engineering design, building and driving racing cars.
Racing cars are subjected to sudden stresses and impacts from minor to major all the time and like aircraft constuction is a delicate balancing act involving lightness for performance and balance, strength for vehicle reliability and driver and vehicle impact and stress resistance, and overall design to build safe vehicles that will last thru adverse conditions and still finish and win a race.
Aircraft are similiar in some respects but vastly different regarding most others; racing cars may leave the ground but not by design, yet few drivers die as a result thanks to constant design upgrades and no compromises to cost and constant testing and maintenance.
Commercial passenger aircraft are basically cargo planes and built with much less attention to impact resistance and survivability except in military combat aircraft which carry certain fuel loads, fixed armaments, missles, and bombs with much design going into making such aircraft able to take high stresses and even direct hits without losing the pilot or even the aircraft.
Metals can also be inpected using long used testing methods that do not work on carbon composites.
The same testing methods are used on racing cars but now composites are expanding in uses even in suspension and control components and there are failures and crashes as a result but there are faster testing and solutions after component failure in racing than in aircraft or even NASA.
The racing driver also is dressed in fireproof and fire retardant clothing, the latest in racing helmets, specialized harnesses, belts, padding, on board fire extinquishers, automatic fuel cutoffs, special fuel tanks, protective cockpit and frame designs, roll bars, head restraints - it goes on and on.
A aircraft passenger has a belt, a tray table, a bad magazine, and a crummy Hollyweird movie to watch.
Commercial aircraft are of bottom line financial necessity designed to squeeze in as many passengers into an airframe as it can handle and are impossible to design to handle onboard explosions or missile attacts by insane Islamic cult sub-human terrorists.
Quoting one Florida engineer after this killer crash "until Airbus makes a proven rudder design not of composites I will only fly Boeings".
This is an engineer I have known most of my life who has vast experience at NASA and aircraft systems engineering projects; the corporation he is with and his name I delete for obvious reasons.
When 587 went down I captured live TV snapshots and emailed it to a certain Florida firm wher my engineer friend works. I zipped around the web checking out composites and found all authoritative engineering and testing information agreed with my previous info and added some, mostly technical, which is of little value to relay here.
All materials and designs are compromises.
Airbus just announced a new "fix" they claim is unrelated to 587.
I survived a chopper crash on active duty in the US Army caused by a crazy pilot who insisted he could safely take off and get our squad back to base.
I survived a flight from Benning thru a hurricane in an aircraft that had lost pressurization and had to fly they the hurricane and one wing tip hit the field on landing in Fort Lauderdale.
I survived a commercial twin turbo-prop commuter flight (never again!) from Westchester to Buffalo with overhead luggage compartment doors shaking and slamming until I loudly alerted a flight attendant; she ignored me until I demanded she notify the pilot of a serious increasing mechanical vibration problem.
As other passengers became aware and concerned she went forward and quickly the co-pilot came back to my seat and talked to me for a second and put his hand on the overhead luggage compatment doors.
He nodded to me and smiles, instantly walked back to the cockpit where I noticed and almost instant drop in engine noise levels and the vibration went away completely.
The pilot met my after we landed 10 minutes late in a heavy snowstorm at icey Buffalo.
He said it was definitely a serious balance problem on the left side props and thanked me.
The next month a Canadian built turbo-prop had passengers killed when a prop came apart and went thru the side of the aircraft but the landed somehow on the other engine and a great pilot and the prayers of those passengers.
Three strikes for me.
I could have been on that flight too but after my last "thrill" had sworn off commuter turbo-prop flights.
Some pilots on those commuters are great; others are like those who flew the Senator Wellstone plane into the ground.
Scary.
I felt safer racing cars than commuting on the thruway to NY every day and my street cars looked like yours but were modified with much of the safety and handling and performance and tire tech used in racing cars; this saved my tail a few times over the years; most of my cars could easily triple the speed limits; getting out of the way or stopping or avoiding should not be limited to only Indy and NASCAR drivers and cars.
I also backed off racing after a driver I knew named Donahue was killed.
A man's gotta now his limitations.
I trust Boeing but not Islamics.
They would be advised to stay off any aircraft I fly on.
I don't play.
I'm all out of "sensitivity"......
Yep I agree. Why would they wait so long to take credit. It was an old Airbus caught in a 747 wake.
"No forensic evidence revealed the presence of explosives or a bomb on this flight."
Well then, lemme ask you, how does the fire/explosion correlate to the tail and engines coming off the plane?
"Did you read #124 above? Lots of people saw lots of different things."
Did you read #127 above, sinkspur? Lots of interpretation on those people's view of different things. ;)
AQ is just trying to help their French buddies. Airbus built an inferior aircraft that just fell apart!
Scary pics... thanks for sharing.
