WASHINGTON, May 27 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The John Kerry for President campaign announced today that Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry has been endorsed by 100 African American mayors from across the United States.

"I am committed to building a stronger America and I believe that in order to be successful in that effort there must be a strong partnership between federal and local government," Kerry said. "I am honored to have the support of this outstanding group of mayors who serve their communities each and every day. Together, we will build a stronger America by fighting to put our economy back on track, creating new and better jobs, expanding access to affordable health care and improving our nation's schools."

Today's announcement is the result of a recent meeting, which was hosted by Wellington Webb, former mayor of Denver Colorado, with mayors at the National Conference of Black Mayors 30th Annual Convention in Philadelphia where Kerry spoke and pledged to work with mayors as President and promised to continue a dialogue with them through annual meetings with all the nation's mayors.

"Senator Kerry believes that first defenders should be a priority," said Wellington Webb, former Mayor of Denver who also joined the Mayors in endorsing Kerry. "He is committed to working with our country's mayors and ensuring that law enforcement officers, firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) have the equipment needed to do their job safely and effectively."

"The White House has allowed America's cities to languish," said Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, Detroit, Michigan. "It's time for a change in leadership. It's time for a president who can build America, restore jobs, and get our nation back on track. It's time for John Kerry."

"As president, John Kerry would have a tremendous impact on small town America," said Mayor Floyd Griffin, Milledgeville, Georgia. "His message of economic development and creating jobs is crucial to areas like mine and I am excited to campaign for him here in Georgia and throughout the country."

"I believe that John Kerry can bring our cities together to solve our country's most crucial issues," said Mayor Shirley Gibson, Miami Gardens, Florida. "Our country deserves a president that represents all Americans and serves all their interests."

All of those people are from Africa?

No but his African-American wife is and she endorses him too (at least 'till he loses).

Got to wonder what they are thinking. Probably falls in the favors owed category, because it doesn't fall in the makes some kind of sense category.

Tell me how many are in his life or neighborhoods. I cannot imagine these fools endorsing an imperious elitist with no interest in anything but himself. John Kerry is about in tune with these people as Howdy Doody. I would be just as sickened by a story hyping white mayors endorsing a politician. We are not supposed to group people by color. Remember?

Gosh what a surprise. If Satan were running as a Dumbascrap, the African America community would blindly endorse and vote for him simply because he was not Republican.

"The White House has allowed America's cities to languish," said Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, Detroit, Michigan. "It's time for a change in leadership. It's time for a president who can build America, restore jobs, and get our nation back on track. It's time for John Kerry."

No, Kwame, it's your own mother who has been the congresswoman for the past 8 years who votes against every bill for the military, homeland security, education and tax cuts that has caused your city to languish.

And while we are at it, Kwame, doesn't the local media say that your dead hooker and scandal-ridden administration put your agenda off track?

Not to mention that Kwame's wife is being subpoenaed to testify about the porn parties at the governor's mansion.

IT'S HILARIOUS how many of these so-called African Americans have Irish or english Surnames....

That may explain how they got educated but little else.

Imagine the Press Release headline from the Bush campaign reading:

100 White Mayors Endorse Bush

Such a headline would be clearly seen as racist and absurd, except when it comes from Democrats, the party of racist groupthink.

Ronald Wooding - Denver, CO is not the mayor of Denver. The real mayor is John Hickenlooper who is most definitely not black (Hickenlooper). A Google search of the this Wooding guy was not very fruitful. There is a politically active Rev. Ronald Wooding in the Denver area.
