LONDON - Despite losses around the world, al-Qaida has more than 18,000 potential terrorists, and its ranks are growing because of the conflict in Iraq, a leading think tank warned Tuesday.

Al-Qaida still has a functioning leadership despite the death or capture of key figures, and estimates suggest al-Qaida operates in more than 60 nations around the world, the International Institute of Strategic Studies said in its Strategic Survey 2003-4.

The terrorist group poses a growing threat to Western interests and attacks are likely to increase, the institute said.

“Al-Qaida must be expected to keep trying to develop more promising plans for terrorist operations in North America and Europe, potentially involving weapons of mass destruction,” institute director John Chipman told a news conference to launch the annual survey.

"LONDON - Despite losses around the world, al-Qaida has more than 18,000 potential terrorists, and its ranks are growing because of the conflict in Iraq, a leading think tank warned Tuesday."

Interesting.

"International Institute of Strategic Studies"

Rat front group. Warning.

"The estimate of 18,000 fighters was based on intelligence estimates that al-Qaida trained at least 20,000 fighters in its training camps in Afghanistan before the United States and its allies ousted the Taliban regime. In the ensuing war on terror, some 2,000 al-Qaida fighters have been killed or captured, the survey said."

20,000-2000=18,000.

So how many were recruited post-Iraq... and where were they trained?

Not Afghanistan. Not Iraq. Using their math, ZERO have been trained since then.

Nice "study." Too bad the whole thing is a non-sequiter.

May Allah, the great and magnificent one, place all of them in one place at one time for a mother of all battles against the satanic Crusader!

New magnet Iraq has become the new magnet of al-Qaida’s war against the United States

Perfect. They fight where we are. Bush is right. Iraq is the frontline.

It's Bush's fault.

estimate of 18,000

Cool now we have a number. It's nice to know just how many have to be eliminated before the job is done.

We are all infidels to them. All of us. The WTC wasn't about killing conservatives. It's American and Jewish blood that puts them in a tizzy.

Scimitars vs. the Power of one of our "morningstars"? Sounds good to me!

I have favored the detention and expulsion of all male citizens of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Jordan, Syria, Iraq and Iran since 9/11/01.

I hope I never have to say, "I told you so".

I'm not worried about the 18,000 fanatic morons. I'm worried about the 100 or so who are actually able to conduct an operation more complex than firing an AK-47 while ululating.

And D-Day is November 2004. They are counting on the Evil Dums and the Evil media to do their leg work here, then if J Fin Kerry wins, bend over, grab your ankles, put your head between your knees, and Kiss your A** goddbye.

Any organisation with the word "International" in its name is suspect to me. "International," in this context, generally means "Anti-American."

al-Qaida operates in more than 60 nations around the world

And prior to this war, none of those countries were Iraq... which al Qaeda is suddenly compelled to fight to the death for.

Uh-huh...

I was hoping for the same thing. That would truly be a target rich environment.
