Time to Send Messages to Congress. Federal Marriage Amendment Info.
vanity,congressional record | self

Posted on 05/17/2004 8:51:06 AM PDT by longtermmemmory

This is the senate and house committees that have the Federal Marriage Amendment.
This is at http://www.house.gov and http://www.senate.gov

Write letters of support to all senators and representatives.
These members count the letters of support.

There are now enough states to pass this due to the fact
they individually have DOMA's.
The FMA will take the Federal Gov. out of the marriage
definition game and put it to state legislatures.
This includes Federally making marriage one man one woman for immigration matters.

These members count the letters of support.
Homosexual special interest groups are trying to organize letter campaigns.
This includes internet and (oddly enough) nightclubs.

For those who have not seen it:
H.J. Res. 56 and S.J. Res. 26
Amendment Text:

Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman.
Neither this Constitution or the constitution of any State, nor state or federal law,
shall be construed to require that marital status or the legal incidents thereof be conferred
upon unmarried couples or groups
.

This is very doable.

BELOW IS A FORM LETTER TO SEND TO THE SENATORS AND HOUSE REPRESENTATIVES

RE: Support in favor of the Federal Marriage Amendment
H.J. Res. 56 and S.J. Res. 26

Dear [ Decision Maker ]

I support the Federal marriage amendment. As your constituent I urge your support to amend the Constitution. Specifically, please cosponsor support H.J. Res. 56 and S.J. Res. 26 when these resolutions should come up for a vote. As you constituent I urge your support to amend the Constitution. Specifically, please cosponsor support H.J. Res. 56 and S.J. Res. 26 when these resolutions should come up for a vote.

This amendment will remove the courts from redefining the marriage based on social activist judges. This will also protect our state from any actions taken or will be taken in any other state. Private sexual behavior should not be the standard which defines marriage. Marriage is a public institution which is how we raise and support societies children. This institution needs protecting by putting into the Constitution what we have today.

This is not the first time the constitution has been used for social issues. All of the Constitution is based on various social issues. This only codifies the law which exists now.

This amendment will remove the Federal Government from this issue and return this topic to the individual state legislatures. The activist courts have made this a federal issue. There are no other options.

Any same sex couple has the legal right to make a private cohabitation agreement, they have the right make powers of attorney and have the right to make health care surrogate directives. These form documents are readily available for nominal cost or free on the Internet. Non of these agreements require any special lawyer help. Marriage under the law is one man and one woman. There is no sexual behavior test. Homosexual rantings to the contrary, their opposition is only attempting to impose public acceptance on what should remain a private consensual behavior.

Please support the support H.J. Res. 56 and S.J. Res. 26, amend the Constitution and protect marriage.

Sincerely,
[Your name]

I have posted this as an answer before, I believe it is right to give it its own thread.

Call your congressman. Call your Senator. It is a simple call and let them know you support the Federal Marriage Amendment.

If anyone has the main number please post it here.

We need to register the outrage.

BTW Kerry supports giving homosexuals spousal social security benefits. Grandma social security to fund homosexual frolicks.

Time to freep.

Call them and tell them you support the Federal Marriage Amendment.

This can be used to make Mass the parahia of the nation. All things Mass will carry a negative, like kerry.

Imagine national reaction as kerry congratules homosexual marriages at the Boston DNC convention?

Express the outrage, call congress.

You are right. But I already called everyone who would listen -- even those who wouldn't. My congressman just sent me back a revolting letter about how wonderful he is because he will not support such a dreadful amendment.

From John Kerry's Website:

A Record of Working on Behalf of Gay and Lesbian Americans
With a 100% rating from the Human Rights Campaign since 1995, John Kerry is a powerful voice in the ongoing fight for civil rights for gay and lesbian Americans.

Priorities

Preventing Hate Crimes
John Kerry is an original cosponsor of the Hate Crimes Prevention bill, which would extend federal jurisdiction over serious, violent hate crimes. These would include crimes motivated by sexual orientation. Hate crimes rose a disturbing 3.5% from 1999 to 2000.

Ending Discrimination
One of John Kerry’s first acts as a U.S. Senator, in 1985, was to introduce a bill prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.  He supports passage of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, and has adopted a nondiscrimination policy for his Congressional offices based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

HIV/AIDS Funding
John Kerry cosponsored the first Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency Act (CARE) - which represents the largest discretionary federal investment in treating individuals with HIV and AIDS.  Kerry also sponsored the Vaccines for the New Millennium Act, aimed at boosting contributions to the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative, a non-profit group working to promote development of an HIV vaccine in 2000.  Kerry introduced the U.S. Leadership Against HIV/AIDS, TB, and Malaria Act, which would increase the U.S. government’s funding of international HIV/AIDS efforts from approximately $1.7 billion in 2003 to $1.9 billion in 2004. This effort led to the unanimous passage in May 2003 the United States Leadership Against HIV/AIDS, TB, and Malaria Act of 2003. AIDS activists characterized Kerry as one of Congress’s top leaders on HIV/AIDS policy.

Protecting Gay and Lesbian Families
John Kerry believes that same-sex couples should be granted rights, including access to pensions, health insurance, family medical leave, bereavement leave, hospital visitation, survivor benefits, and other basic legal protections that all families and children need.  He has supported legislation to provide domestic partners of federal employees the benefits available to spouses of federal employees.  He was one of 14 Senators -- and the only one up for reelection in 1996 -- to oppose the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).

Lifting the Ban on Gays in the Military
John Kerry opposed the Clinton Administration’s “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell Policy”  He was one of a few senators to testify before the Senate Armed Services Committee and call on the President to rescind the ban on gay and lesbian service members.

Support for Civil Unions
John Kerry supports same-sex civil unions so that gay couples can benefit from the health benefits, inheritance rights, or Social Security survivor benefits guaranteed for heterosexual couples.

Who? It does not matter because it puts pressure on ALL of them. If even the California Senators are getting overwhelming support for the FMA all the other Senators will take note.

The feminists want this because it destroys the family unit, the homosexuals want this to impose public acceptance of their private sex fetish, there is no reason for us to not give reasoned dispute and say no to the left.

He is one to be flooded for support for the FMA. Remember there was devastatinly overwhelming support for the Federal DMA? Why? Because the little senators were quaking in their booties with the knowledge that the public did not want homosexual sex marriages.

Let them ALL know we will not be ignored. Don't be silent.

Ditto, here. (*sigh*) I *really* hope we can get this guy into a nice burger-flipping job, in November...

I don't know how long it's been since Wisconsin had conservative senators. The two we have at the moment are poster boys of the far left...

They may be poster boys but I bet most of those democrat party senators voted for the DMA in 1996.

They all also voted for immigration law which hold that the US federal governemnt will only recognize marriage between one man and one woman.

These reps know who votes and who does not. This issue is more significant to voters than abortion. They will pay attention when your register your support of Marriage as one man and one woman.

Anybody:

anyone have any thoughts on what would happen if we called the local TV stations and expressed outrage? If the locals saw this story as a "bleeds it leads" ratings grabber, they could turn the news into all homosexual marriage all the time.

The net result could be what happened during SF. Support for the FMA shot up to 59%.

opinions? We need to figure out how to get the message out to the voting public.

I have exhausted every avenue regaurding same sex 'marriage' and the SILENCE from the masses is deafening.

This says it all IMHO:

...from bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependency; from dependency back again into bondage. -Alexander Tyler, 1750
