What I Saw Was Unspeakable

Begin transcript

Rush: I'm going to give this a try. It has been suggested. I mentioned an hour ago when the program started that I'd seen the execution of Nick Berg video, and I was being urged by people to describe it, and the reason I was being urged to describe it was because it's unspeakable. And what is done to us by our enemies we cannot see, we will not look at. We cannot discuss it because it's unspeakable, and yet a moral equivalence is attached to what is done to Americans and what some American prison guards did to some Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison. And it is a stark contrast because we can look at all those pictures. In fact, people are eager to see them. The word is, "Get 'em all out!" McCain is out there, "Get 'em all out. Let's find out the full scope of this. Flash those pictures everywhere."

At the beginning, you know, when the first two or three pictures came out, the first day or two, when I made some comments about it, one of the things I said, "This is important, I think, that we keep all this in perspective and not rush to judgment, jump the gun and all this." Lo and behold, the Nick Berg execution has provided that perspective. Here's one of the reasons I'm going to do this, because I want you to try to remember whatever emotion you felt when you looked at these prison photos when you first saw them, and I want you to measure, if you can, in your memory the emotions you felt with the way they were being described to you. Because, if you're like me, the way those photos, the initial release, the first two days of photos, the way they were described to me, I didn't see them that way. I mean, I heard all of these senators and everybody talk about how repugnant, horrible, and the words "torture" and all, you know, the descriptive phrases, as though this was just obscene, just horrible, almost intolerable, and it never was to me.

Not until the news that there had been some rapes and other sorts of violence in later photo releases did I have those feelings. But in the first couple days, what I was hearing about these pictures from the political critics didn't match the way I felt. What I would like for you to do is — and this is not going to be easy — because I'm going to try to describe feelings I had as I watched this but I don't want to describe what I saw. Haven't changed my mind about that. It's going to be hard to separate the two, and if you don't want to listen to it, I totally understand, and you can take some time here and go somewhere else if you don't want your kids to listen to it, if they're listening, and take them somewhere else and not listen to it. There's no attempt to shock here. But for those of you that want to sit around and give this a go, I want you to listen to me describe the emotions I felt watching this execution and compare those emotions to the emotions you had when you saw the prison photos from Abu Ghraib, and tell me if there's any similarity.

The reason I post this is to point out that — even though it is not included in this transcript — for the first time within my hearing Rush really unloaded on TROP™.

Previously whenever he was in the least critical of Muslims, Rush sounded defensive and even apologetic.

So even though he comes late to the soiree, it is good to have Rush's voice speaking out — assuming that he does not lapse back into somnolence.

Well, after seeing the video, I think most people would wake from their long slumber, which they had resumed somewhere around 12/2002.

Of course, this is the reason why the media will not show this, precisely because it would wake the masses. Perhaps not along the order of 9/11, but needless to say it would be good for the country (and for Bush). That would be devastating for the demoSCUM and their butt-nut pals in the media.

Remember the other Rushism: whatever is good for the country is bad for the demoSCUm; whatever is good for the demoSCUM is bad for the country.

Thanks, we must keep this front and center.

My Letter -

Let there be no mistake, we are fighting pure evil. What other name is there? We cannot call them animals because even animals do not hate and destroy like these vile creatures. These evil men who murder, mutilate and destroy, who’s acts rip and claw at the very core of the human soul. These men cannot be placated and they cannot be contained.

This is a culture of death, a sub-set of a faith fouled by death and hate and destruction. Take no heart in numbers though, they few hundreds of thousands, maybe millions have been tearing at all that is good for centuries, whatever their current incarnation.

They send their children out as bombs, they mutilate their women, they murder innocents and they seek to destroy humanity as we know it. They do not simply hate the US, they hate anybody not like them, and it is only that the US is a convenient target, a target that presents itself in an effort to make a better world.

You likely did not see the slow beheading of Dan Pearl or Nick Berg. The images of the mutilated, burned and abused bodies of Americans hung from that bridge were not shown on the evening news. The pictures of those in the burning towers of 9/11, jumping to their death to escape certain death by fire are seldom viewed. The terrible video of US soldiers being drug through the streets of Mogadishu are gut wrenching, but few bore witness.

But these are the deeds, the real evil face of our enemy. These are the terrorist, a word that cannot describe their black souls. An enemy found in Iraq, Afghanistan, Spain, Russia and even in the United States of America. We cannot turn our eyes from the pain or cover our ears to the screams; we must face with all our courage this common enemy to humankind.

Afghanistan and Iraq are just the beginning and Americans and citizens of the world must steel their resolve. If we don’t get them first, they will get us.

I didn't see the video but I did see still pictures and hear the audio. The sound of Mr. Berg screaming is something I will never forget.

They are calling out to their god Allah as they are sacrificing a Jew.

Religion of peace my ass. I think these images are going to galvanize a lot of people onto Bush's side who were otherwise on the fence or mildly anti-war. Americans will reconsider who they want in the Oval Office protecting them from these people, and Kerry will look more and more like the internationalist apologician wimp that he is and he will be defeated in November.

Thanks for posting the link. Did not have a chance to listen to Rush today. Powerful description:
" It was bad enough watching a fellow American undergo a purposeful execution. I'm going to tell you again, folks: No guillotine here. There's no "beheading." Don't fall for this beheading business if you haven't seen this. If you have, you know what I'm talking about. "

I heard the audio on Hannity....it absolutely startled my senses hearing that young guy cry out , and for so long...

it wasn't a neat and quick kill....it was pure torture.....and some are saying that the video actually was doctored some way to make it seem shorter....

I think poor Nick Berg thought he would say his piece in front of the camera and these great guys would just let him go....

I imagine he was incredulous when they started in on him.....

Evil does exist, and it can show itself in the face of these animals....yes....Satan is happy today ....

I need to read my bible more, and go back to the story of Ishmael.......

I don't know how it could leave you any other way. It's heart-pounding and freakish because you realize in that moment exactly what Nick was realizing...that he was being killed.

"Lo and behold, the Nick Berg execution has provided that perspective."

That sentence says it all! How can anybody vote for "Hanoi John." Nick Berg is the reason Iraq and all Islamofacists must be defeated in their own backyards. GO BUSH 2004.

There are 2 versions -- the one on the original site is missing some time -- if you follow the time index on it it jumps between when they jump on him and when he is on the ground. In that video the screaming starts before the actual act occurs. That part is cut in the video but not in the audio -- after that they just chant to the moon good so you can't tie it to the action.

Bottom line, these are sub-human gutless evil cowards who will have to face the real God someday -- and hopefully the USA can hasten that day.

I only saw the video and was completely rattled. I don't know if I have any taste for both at once. I'm very glad it hit the Internet though, it's the only way for the reality to sink in, permanently.

What more can I say?

I am glad that you finally grew up and realized why American military men and women have been dying for something they knew was correct.

Yes, every American must watch and listen to this video.

If it makes you feel sick, well, it SHOULD!
