If Donald Rumsfeld ends up resigning over this issue and President Bush accepts his resignation I will be writing-in Rumsfeld for President in November. And if Kerry wins...so be it. The combination of the two(Rumsfeld resigning and Kerry being elected) will be proof to me that this country did not wake up on September 11th and will not until there is a catastrophic attack ten times the magnitude of 9/11. And if that is what it's going to take then obviously we won't try to stop it until after it happens.

Donald Rumsfeld is one of the greatest Americans of the last fifty years and the fact that people of authority such as Senators and House Representatives are asking for his resignation over an issue that I can only describe as trivial, IMO, is a sign of where this country has gone and where it seems to be headed. It also cannot be over looked that these recommendations for Rumsfeld's resignation are coming from ideological left wingers for the most part and they show the absolute blatant disregard for a country first before politics attitude that should be a requirement for service in the United States Congress. The people calling for Rumsfeld to resign have IMO made themselves that much more irrelevent to the American political scene and their views on domestic and world affairs should not be seen as credible from this day forward by anyone with any common sense. But the fact that these left wing ideologues have constituents and a base of supporters large enough to get them elected is extremely disturbing to me and leaves me demoralized at the politcal climate turn this country has taken post-Vietnam.

We as Americans have a long way to go, it seems to me, towards overcoming the political stain the Vietnam war has left within our established media and our government and in the views of our nation's populace itself. Donald Rumsfeld IMO is a leader who can very effectively help us get through that period and he in fact has helped much already.

I want to state that IMO the issue of Donald Rumsfeld resigning over this issue of abuse of Iraqi terrorists could very well be a turning point for me in support of the Bush Administration. So far the President has done right by Rumsfeld saying he will keep him on as Secretary of Defense and I applaud him for that but I will be watching how this plays out. As for the media and the people who occupy the left-wing of our politcal spectrum I have lost even more respect than I thought possible.

And to close I would like to say that I watched the televised testimony of Rumsfeld, Gen. Myers, etc. today on the issue of the abuse of Iraqi prisoners and I ask why was the person who leaked classified information or at least information that was of obvious importance seemingly not on the mind of any of the Senators asking questions on the panel? To me the single most important prosecution in this whole case should be the person or persons who LEAKED the photos unlawfully and at the great detriment of our troops in the field and of our country's reputation in the world's eyes.

"If Donald Rumsfeld ends up resigning over this issue and President Bush accepts his resignation "

If that happens, Kerry becomes a shoo-in. People admire Bush for his leadership. If he allows the hyenas influence outweigh what he knows is best for the country, he just lost that edge. Then people lose their faith in Bush and will regard him as no better than Kerry.

And God help us all with Kerry in the White House.

I just hope Bush will stop and think and not allow the loud chorus of America haters to make him do something, that he and all of us will regret the rest of our lives, which may well be much shorter under Kerry, than would be under Bush.

I think this whole apology is sickening enough. Bush and Rumsfeld should have come out swinging -- too bad, get over it, let's move on, we are in a middle of a war for our very survival.

With someone with "BushisTheMan" as their user id here,
you know I'm a Bushbot.

You said what I have been thinking very eloquently. I absolutely support President Bush, Rummy, the military, and our police and firemen.

BUT...

If Bush does not support Rummy, I'm going to be very ticked. I'll still vote for him but no more money.
