I left out a lot of heroes. Thanks for the fine addition of de La Valette to the list.

It is interesting to note that Malta was one of few areas in the Mediterranean that was not decimated by the Muslim slave raiders in the past. I have not had a chance to find out why.

The Maltese were among the most stalwart Catholics on earth, and too tough to submit to slavery. That's why, combined with the Knights, they made Malta impossible for even Suleiman the Magnificent to crack.
