"...in the areas of morality and defense..."

Morality? Defense? Bush sends fifteen billion dollars to Africa to control AIDS, thus subsidizing the behavior which promotes the disease, tells the world that the USA is duty bound to share its wealth with the rest of the world, which can only be accomplished by holding a gun to the head of every productive US citizen, and then apologizes to those who delight in our destruction. That's not moral, it's indefensible masochistic insanity.

But the guy studies the Bible every day. This is not enough to qualify as a conservative, and his record, as detailed above, demonstrates why not.

I've given a lot of thought to whether or not I should respond to you, MS, but you have a few factual errors that need to be corrected for the record.

I know that I won't convince you to even think about it. You obviously already know everything and look down on others who don't, and I've read enough of your posts to understand that you won't be moved from your entrenched position by something as insignificant as a fact.....

Let's deal first with the AIDS policy. It is modeled after a policy in Uganda (ABC), which stresses morality as the primary solution to the problem of AIDS. The A being taught is ABSTINENCE, and the B is BE FAITHFUL. The AIDS epidemic in that country has been cut back dramatically because of the teaching of moral behavior.

You may disagree with spending the money on it (as most conservatives do), but to call it 'immoral' is not accurate.

And then there's your assertion that this 'apology' means the President is weak on defense. It flies in the face of the facts of the past 3 years, and reveals only that you are reacting viscerally, and not thoughtfully.......because if you put any thought into what you said, you simply would not have said it. It is not a reasoned position, and therefore is inaccurate. The President is strongly pro-military, pro American sovereignty abroad, and fighting a fight against an evil enemy that few would have the courage to fight.

As a matter of fact, there is absolutely no point in my continuing a discussion with someone whose views are so far askew from reality that he doesn't believe that President Bush is a moral leader (and apparently chooses to ignore his pro-life, pro-marriage, pro-personal responsibility positions)...........or believes that an apology for abhorrent, illegal behavior on the part of a handful of our troops means in any way that he is not strong on defense.

I might as well be arguing with Ted Kennedy.........he thinks the President is a liar, and bad on defense too (just for the opposite reason). You two ought to talk some time. You agree with HIM more than you agree with me.

At any rate, it's as much a waste of time for me to try to discuss the President's policies with you as it would be with the Swimmer, and I try not to throw away my time.........it's too precious.

My final suggestion to you, Mortimer.........try reading the Bible and spend some time in prayer yourself, and find a church where the love of God can be revealed to you through the people who worship there. Your bad experiences in the past have darkened your view of truth, and blocked you from seeing the light of the Savior who died for you, and loves you.

Be well, Mortimer.
