``Michigan is the birthplace of many 'firsts' - first automobile, first cereal flakes, first hockey player to score career 700 goals (Gordie Howe) - and, yes, first place the Republican Party convened,'' said Granholm, a Democrat. Earth to Jennifer: Gordie Howe was born in Floral, Sasketchewan.

It was Ripon Wisconsin. One of the few good things to come out of Wisconsin.

I live a half hour from Rippon. Not much going on there.
The rest of the state is solid Democrat.

A silly question.
If a new political party is going to be viable it will coalesce from nascent cells that are widely distributed.
That of course is why the Green and the Constitutionalist and other parties haven't gotten off to a good start...they have at best just one solid birthplace, and only weak ties to communities elsewhere.

I was going to add "and the best QB to ever pick up
a football, Brett Favre", but he's actually from
mississippi. I would bet that he wouldn't mind
very much, though.

Michigan is the birthplace of many 'firsts' - first automobile,
The first internal combustion automobile was built by the Benz brothers in Germany in 1885. The first automobile in America was built by the Duryea brothers in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1893. They formed the first automobile manufacturing corporation, Duryea Motor Wagon Company, in 1895.

"the best football team in the history of football, the Green Bay Packers."
With all due respect, your post needs a minor correction:
the best football team in the history of football, the Green Bay Packers Chicago Bears.
As to Ripon, I've been to Ripon and it undoubtedly is the birthplace of the Republican Party. Green Lake is nice too. Now if the cheese-heads would just stop calling those from IL "F.I.B's" (who by the way keep Wisconsin's 3rd World economy going), we'd be onto something.

Yes, and I could document the 3 million Americans and tens of millions worldwide killed in the Automobile Holocaust.

What, no /sarcasm tag?
I'm sure, of course, that you're similarly capable of documenting the "cigarette holocaust," the "high blood pressure holocaust," the "poverty holocaust," the "DDT holocaust," and all the other human stupidities that have directly or indirectly killed millions over the last century.
Can't you can do better than "automobile holocaust"?

Can't you do better than justify one Holocaust with another?
