Big Head Ted Kennedy is looking as disgusting as ever. I always thought it would have been funny if, after JFK Jr. & Wife crashed, Ted was found bruised and soaking wet in a Martha's Vinyard bar.

Bearing His Cross

Read: Mark 15:16-21

They compelled a certain man, Simon a Cyrenian, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear His cross. —Mark 15:21

Bible In One Year: 1 Samuel 10-12; Luke 9:37-62

In the eyes of most people in the crowd, Jesus was a common criminal going to the place of execution. So to help Him bear His cross was both degrading and humiliating.

Simon of Cyrene was pressed into this service (Mark 15:21). Yet this was perhaps the most glorious day in his life. It is possible that he believed in the Savior, and that his wife and children did also. Some Bible teachers come to that conclusion because many years later, when the apostle Paul sent his greetings to the Christians in Rome, he referred to a man named Rufus and his mother (Romans 16:13). I believe that he was the son of Simon mentioned by Mark in his gospel (15:21), which probably was written in Rome. This is likely the reason Mark said that Simon was the father of Rufus and Alexander.

When we walk with Jesus and "take up the cross" (Luke 9:23), we too will experience the ridicule of the world for identifying ourselves with the Savior. Yet through it all, like Simon of Cyrene, our lives will be transformed, and our testimony will have an influence on the lives of family and friends around us.

Simon was "compelled" to bear the cross (Mark 15:21), but Jesus invites us to take up our cross. Have you? —Henry Bosch

"Take up thy cross and follow Me,"
I hear the blessed Savior call;
How can I make a lesser sacrifice
When Jesus gave His all? —Ackley

Following Jesus costs more than anything—except not following Him.

Good afternoon, Miss Billie...) Thanks for delivering John's Two Cents to ustoday.

JH2, as always and ever, your two pennies are pitched right on target...just love this line:

"Seeking to pump new botox into his sagging campaign..."

Bwahahahahaha.

Woke up too late to catch Condi's opening statement...I tuned into the middle of the Gorelick inquisiion...her heineousosity stood in remarkable contrast to Condi's poise and intellect.

Now listening to Rush, so I can know what to think about it all.

Mornin' Billie, John. Another GREAT essay and complimenting graphics.

Having a real struggle here with trying to decide what part of this essay to highlight. Should it be The Boys from Martha's Vineyard, demdamdims or perhaps Bush?

After re-reading a few times, and watching the Condi assassination attempt on C-Span, and events of this week, I've settled on my first choice...

To our brave fighting men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan, know that you're in our thoughts, you're in our every prayer. Not a single day goes by that we don't think of you and pray for you, and thank you for your priceless sacrifice. We are immeasurably indebted to each of you. God bless you, God bless our President and God bless the United States of America!

May God Bless one and all as we focus our thoughts this weekend on the Greatest Sacrifice ever made for each of us.

Praise the LORD!

Thank you, John, for another exceptional essay. As always, you are right on.

And thank you, Billie, for bringing him to us today. I love these photographs. They tell an entirely different story than we are hearing on the news. I can't even listen to the news anymore, my blood pressure can't handle it. There are no words to describe how much I detest Toad Kennedy. And if I hear once more "we have GOT to pull our troops out NOW".....I will scream.

God bless and protect each an every man and woman who is putting their lives on the line to liberate Iraq! And God bless and strengthen our beleaguered President who is being beat up daily by idiots and America-haters.

Wishing my FR family and friends a good day.

hahaha ! Good one today, John ! I likes it ! ;^)

Many Democrats wonder, could this recovery have been prevented? Yes, of course. If Democrats had treated the Bush tax cut threat with sufficient urgency in Congress, killing it well before the recovery began, the Bush boom would not have happened. But Democrats failed to recognize the threat posed by those tax cuts.

Amen John!

Great job writing this essay and so right on the money!

It seems that today everyone is caught up with Condi's debut with the bipartisan 9-11 committee,

should be renamed 9-11 witch hunt!

All of this really disturbs me, the investigation into Pearl Harbor didn't commence till after the war, so it didn't distract us from our goal of Victory over the enemy. This committee is trying to find out who is responsible for the attack, all they need to do is #1 look at radical islam. They did it, not us.

#2 Just what did clinton do during the 90's ? Destroyed the intellegence community, the Military, and the judical system.
Treated the terrorists as criminals on the run instead of like the enemy. Democrats do not know how to govern this or any country.

The most disturbing to me is the relentless attempt to destroy this President in a time of War. It's Bush's fault, he failed us, we are not safer, we are not welcome in Iraq, we are the occupiers of a sovern country, the enemy is getting stronger, and on and on and on.

The democrats will do everything they can to make this another Vietnam. To blatantly lie and in most part unanswered by the republicans in Congress.
This never would have happened during WWII .
Where are the Statesman, where is the leadership ?
I like Bush, notice I only said "like" I will vote for him only because this has come down to a battle between Good and evil.
Where was Bush after those 4 men were killed burned and hung on fallujah?
Why didn't he come out and condem theses brutal attacks ? Why ?
Today he is on his ranch giving a tour to outdoorsman, this after one of the worst days during this war, 12 Marines died, 12 !
We may lose this battle just due to no dam leadership.
I want to scream from the rooftops and do when ever I can.

Does anyone even acknowledge the prescence of Iran and Syria in these attacks ? Rummey said, yea Iran has had a little to do with this. A little? Try all, them and Syria, Arafat, hamas, hezbullah, islamic jihad. This is a holy war and will get out of control if we do not respond with extreme prejudice!
This goes all the way back to Issac and Ishmael. We are under attack by muslim exteremists, I have not heard one, not one muslim leader speak out against this attack or any other. Sorry but I would be demanding the muslim community to stand up and speak. There have been enough of them visiting the White House.

Where is the Leadership in this Country ?
We are being driven by political correctness and polls

My God, I sound like Mike Savage.

I hope this link still worksMohammed blessing to America

Welcome Home

I Love my God and my Country with all my Heart, and I'm watching it be destroyed, sometimes, like now, I want to cry.
I'm leaving "this" for my Children to deal with.

Our Country is being torn apart from the inside out, Bible Prophecy being played out right infront of our eyes.
