Long, but excellent read. I agree with 99% of it. My one reservation is the emphasis he places on America being a Protestant nation, culturally, as opposed to being a Christian nation. I'm not sure that our national character would be that much different if our roots had been Catholic, provided that Protestant churches were allowed to flourish, as well.

The CIA, one of its officials said in 1999, can no longer count on the cooperation of American corporations as it once was able to do, because the corporations view themselves as multinational and may not think it in their interests to help the U.S. government.1

They have no loyalty but fully expect the expense of tax money to defend "American interests." They have effectively socialized the risk that their investments abroad could be subject to war, nationalization, or unrest. The funds for the military are paid exclusively by those who are getting screwed when these guys leave for lower costs (including regulation, labor, and taxation). Interestingly, these same global interests are funding NGOs to assure the economic destruction of their competitors via the use of regulatory power. If we simply taxed these interests for the services they demand, the illusion of "comparative advantage would vanish."
