As a conservative, I'm certainly no Kerry fan, but this account proves nothing but that he's a US Senator. I bet half the Senate would be at least this rude.

For some reason the Senate is filled with pompous Arsses. Perhaps why few Senators ever become President. I live in DC have worked on the Hill as an intern and its just true.

One time I was at an event, and a Senator who always seems pretty stand up and down-to-earth on TV was there, Alan Simpson so I walked up to him to introduce myself. He acted as if I were invisible and he was deaf, totally ignoring me as I spoke--clearly I wasn't important enough to talk to. This is typical for a Senator.

I don't find Kerry's behavior unusual or surprising at all--for many Senators both sides of the eisle.

Hey, that's exactly how John Engler treated me! And this was well before he was Governor. He was a lowly state rep.

And here's the kicker -- the only reason I was there in the first place was because he sought me out for the meeting!

There must be something about politics that attracts the cold-blooded creature type, devoid of personality, with the ability to turn on a fair to midlin approximation of one when necessary. I guess he just didn't think it was necessary to boot up the personality emulation module when he met with me, after sending several invitations, and then, when I finally managed to get to Lansing at a mutually convenient time, left me cooling my heels for over an hour while he farted around.
