Actually, when I think of someone who would join you it would be my wife -- she would never in a gagillion years get in a flame war. She has too much dignity (she does NOT lack passion). But she can't see why I like FR, so maybe that's part of it.

I'll tell you what drives me. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." I always keep that in mind when I'm composing a reply or retort. (And I can get pretty saucy, just not mean.) Since I don't enjoy being called names, etc., and since JimRob lists that as a way to get the boot, I stay away from that stuff, even when I'm strenuously disagreeing with another FReeper.

If I'm feeling lousy, I compose my reply (leaving the "TO" window blank so if I accidentally hit POST, I'll get that message that I have to fill in the "TO" line), and go read another thread.

If, upon clear-headed reflection, I believe it's okay to post, I do so. I've deleted a lot of my own posts before they get sent to the forum.

I didn't use to be so temperate. Live and learn.
