The only source of heat at our lake house is a wood burning stove. It keeps the whole cabin very toasty. Of course, the cabin is only about 1400 sq. ft., but parts of a house could be closed off, or multiple stoves could be used. Our cabin is in Heber Springs, Arkansas, so we don't see the cold temps that people up north experience. I don't know how well it would work under more extreme weather conditions.

Ah, Heber Springs...My hubby & I used to go there on hot days when we were in college. We've even talked about moving there sometime. Nice place.
