Kind of funny how we would stare at the Amish when we went on family vacations to Lancaster, PA, would never bat an eye at the Hasidics, who are commonplace in the NYC Metro area. In fact, there are entire villages in the NYC Metro area that are made up almost exclusively of Hasidic sects. Kyrias Joel (Sp?) in Rockland County, NY comes to mind.

You're right about the Amish. We used to see them at the zoo in Ohio and we'd stare at them because they were so unusual. Then we drove to Indiana and saw the horse drawn carts and were totally amazed at that.
