"...foreign workers dragging down wages and taking jobs away ..."I live in Cowlitz County, located in SW Washington state. We have over 33,000 unemployed citizens here, people who've lost jobs mainly in the manufacturing sector and that sector's support businesses.
A postion for motel receptionist in Kelso, the county seat, recently had over 80 applicants. The motel manager was astounded, as the job paid barely over minimum wage and a significant number of the applicants had some college, even BA degrees.
Both the Democrats and Republicans are way out of touch with the grassroot groups on the immigrations issue. Way out of touch.
A majority of U.S. citizens, even Hispanics, recognize the injurious problem of unchecked immigration. It will be interesting to see which candidate in the next nation-wide election realizes that fact. My expectation is that neither will do so.

I agree that the Open Border/Illegal Immigrant issue is ripe for a 3rd political party platform and could tap into a powerful group of supporters/voters....of course the Right and Left wing of the "Liberal Party" would not like it a bit!

I agree, immigration will be a moot point in the 04 election, but I think by the time 08 rolls around it will be a big issue, maybe THE big issue. It is the next big grassroots issue, that is for sure. We need to hold the Feds responsible. Immigration is out of control and we need a moratorium immediately. I live in Hudson County New Jersey, there are barely any Americans here anymore, I'm tired of it. When I couldn't find a copy of "cat in the hat" that wasnt' in both English and Spanish, that was the last straw. The commie hispanic "leaders" obviously have no desire that any children learn english anymore.
I say it's bullshit and I say to hell with it. We just need to get a little better grip on the whole terrorists situation first, and then focus on immigration reform, or elimination, that's cool for me too.

Exactly. The politicians on both sides of the aisle are hopelessly out of touch with reality. That's why I'll write in Alan Keyes in the coming election.
