France cancels flights to LA

24/12/2003 20:36 - (SA)

Paris - French authorities cancelled three Air France flights to Los Angeles airport on Wednesday after the US embassy in Paris warned it feared they might be used for terrorist attacks.

Interior ministry officials said the order was given after a top-level ministerial meeting was called to consider the embassy alert.

In Los Angeles, officials said the city's airport was experiencing its tightest security clampdown since the September 11, 2001 attacks.

The United States on the weekend raised its nationwide alert of attacks to an "elevated" level.

"after the US embassy in Paris warned it feared they might be used for terrorist attacks"

Sounds like hard info on our part.

One thing I know for sure from watching French TV news on MHZ - GITMO is like a Club Med compared to French prisons.

Let's hope the French catch and put the AQ types away - contrary to French gov't numbers, about 30% of the population of France is Moslem - and the majority CAN'T STAND Al-Quaida. They come to France to live nice, sweet, middle-class French lives.

I wonder how accurate this article is when it claims our alert was raised to elevated......it was raised to HIGH.
