December 24, 2003 -- Rush Limbaugh tore into Florida prosecutors on his radio show yesterday - suggesting they're part of an evil Democratic plot to defeat him "in the court of public opinion." The top-rated conservative talker, furious a judge is letting prosecutors examine his medical records for evidence of "doctor shopping," accused them of smearing his name through unsubstantiated leaks to the media.

Cases in point: Nixon & Watergate, Clinton & Lewinsky, the Church of Rome & child molestation, Jackson & child molestation,....
Nixon & Watergate----- Vicious attack on a twice elected President for a standard 2bit burglary of nothing of monetary value.
Clinton and Lewinsky-- Well deserved criticism of conduct beyond the pale .
Church of Rome & child molestation---Part of a program to unfairly bash the Catholic Church.
Jackson & child molestation--Jackson is being bashed, IMO they don't have a case, just a bunch of dirty minded publicity seeking accusers.
Solitas, me thinks you shoot from the hip .
Rush thinks he's smarter.
Step 1: shoot self in foot by opening mouth on radio
Step 2: reload
Step 3: take aim at other foot and keep opening mouth on radio.
No offense taken, GWF. I can appreciate the points you've made and I return your Christmas greetings! Have a happy and safe New Year's Eve too! :-)
IMO: Limbaugh _should_ be concerned for his reputation with the public and his viability in the marketplace; he's doing more to hurt both by his actions, conduct, and words than the court is.
No, you're absolutely right, it's not all clear at this point. However, here's a thought that has crossed my mind about this "blackmail" explanation - if he wasn't buying his drugs from this maid and he was in fact buying his drugs from pharmacies pursuant to physicians' prescriptions, what bombshell facts would this maid have known that would be the basis for any serious blackmail?
Again, however, you're right about it not being all that clear at this point. But, unless he's been involved in some criminal conduct that is far more serious than the kind of stuff that I've been hearing speculation about, I just think that he should end the mysteries here and get on with his life. It's becoming ridiculous.
I'm sure he believes there's nothing legally incriminating in them. But, all the same, there could well be other information that none of us, in his place, would want broadcast near and far -- information that may have no bearing at all on the drug matter. Given the DA's behavior to date, I can readily understand Limbaugh's reluctance to let that man access his information even under a gag order. Even still, the subject of a gag has not even been introduced. At issue is whether the DA has a legal claim on the information at all.
Concerning his reputation with his listeners, they seem to be standing by him in the main. If he's lost his audience, that's news to me.
Once again, the left is attempting to try fry conservatives publicly.
