IMPEACHMENT IS FOREVER - HAPPY CLINTON IMPEACHMENT DAY!
self | Friday, December 19, 2003 | Kristinn

Congratulations! It was five years ago today the House of Representatives impeached President William Jefferson Clinton for perjury and obstruction of justice.

Those brave representatives survived an all-out war of political brinksmanship which included public threats of retaliation and private threats to bring down the government if Clinton was impeached.

James Carville threatened Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr with "kneecapping;" Alec Baldwin called for the murder of House Judiciary Committee Chairman Henry Hyde; George Stephanopoulos passed along the threat to employ the "Ellen Romesch defense"--a public blackmailing of Congress; Hillary Clinton said on the Today Show that those plotting against her husband "would have alot to answer for" when this was done; Paula Jones was called "trailer trash" and worse for simply seeking justice and an apology; Linda Tripp had her reputation destroyed by a conspiracy of Clinton administration officials and media operatives. Even Monica Lewinsky feared for her life and kept the infamous blue dress stained with presidue for insurance.

Thank God that people like Linda Tripp stood tall and refused to back down in their determination to see that a president of the United States could not commit felonies in office with impunity.

And thank God for people like Jim Robinson, Bob Barr, Gary Aldrich, Alan Keyes, Larry Klayman, Lucianne Goldberg, Billy Dale and all the rest who spoke at, organized and attended Free Republic's nationally televised rally supporting Clinton's impeachment on October 31, 1998.

You done good! Impeachment is forever. You can be proud that in America's hour of need, you answered the call to preserve protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.

Recently, I have lurked the DU, this thread has endured on this topic a long time without anyone dropping the "F" bomb, a true sign of intelligence. The DU's need to learn a new word, I was amazed!

I remember calling into Talkspot(?) to talk to Connie Hair and my daughter sang God Bless America.

I was logged-in to TalkSpot and James Golden's interactive chat room for that glorious rendition of God Bless America, and all of the celebrating that followed.

Al Gore would have been impeached after that because of the campaign finance investigation into Chinese money raised by him.

I saved the front page of the local paper. "CLINTON IMPEACHED!" Was just looking at it yesterday. Funny thing, though. Forever after Nixon resigned, anytime the press mentioned him it was "Former President Nixon, who was forced to resign . . ." You never hear about Clinton being impeached from the press.

How this man can walk around so smug and have groupies still at his feet, is amazing.

He is a sociopath and they think he's the Messiahs. I remember one of his speeches. I turned to my husband and asked, "How can he act like nothing has happened when he knows the whole world is concentrated on his crotch?" Hubby said, "Are you kidding? He loves it."

When he appeared on the cover of Esquire magazine, I told my husband he was right. Clinton loves having the world focus on his crotch.

The whole thing was just a dog and pony show, considering the affair started with bribery and extortion and the free flow of Communist Chinese money into the pockets of both alleged parties, from Ken Starr to the Clintons themselves and everyone in between, and ended with a trivial bit of nonsense involving a pervert and a slut.

Clinton should have been hanged for treason but both parties' utter corruption assured nothing would be done except to seal all the evidence for fifty years.

The lesson of Clinton's impeachment is that both parties are totally corrupt and a policy of mutually assured destruction prevents anything ever happening to change things.

Hard to disagree with you here. Especially the dog and pony show part. This will prolly not get a soundbyte from the lamestream media today, and the revisionist historians are/have been working hard to portray the scumbags administration in a positive light. In about 10 years...this will all be forgotten by most.

The Republic is dead! Long live the Empire!

(chuckle)...see tagline.

The death of the republic has been forgotten here, lost amidst the frenzied cheering for the local favorite for first Emperor.

Lurking on FR all through the impeachment, I finally decided to register and post after the final vote was past and the site continued to function. The Clinton criminality was a galvanizing force required to cause, otherwise, taciturn conservatives, libertarians and naiscient (sp?) traditionalists to become activists on the web to a degree unknown before.

We saw fellows that couldn't agree on very much of anything, make valiant common cause together and enjoyed the association. We likewise, more firmly learned both the power of utilizing our impact on a political party and the disappointments that party politics and the making of government always entail.

The attempted theft of the national election by Al Gore and forces would have succeded if the activism by groups like this hadn't been forceful. This was evident in countless ways.

Clinton has no shame. How stupid of him to have gotten involved with a geek like Monica and adding a new word into our language "doing the Lewinski." I wish he would fade away. But no such luck. And New Yorkers even voted Hillary into office.

>>>Impeachment is forever, and the final outcome is forever as well - not removed from office<<<

Well, if he'd of been taken out of office, AlWhore would have been President and incumbant during 2000 election...

BUMP! They wrote the second or third line of his obituary that day.

Whenever Billy does shuffle off, even the most liberal papers will note the passing of the "impeached" president.

If Clinton had been tried and convicted for the real crimes, not stupid Monica, Gore would have gone down too.

But the republicans were too dirty themselves, to do more than fuss over the perv and the slut.

All the repubs voting FOR impeachment would not have gotten a single vote from the dems. NO WAY would he have been removed.

Unreasonable to put the burden on the republicans......AGAIN.

Excuse me.......but I am a 66 yr. old grandMOTHER.

I was so proud of our republicans that day. They knew the political consequences, given the media, but did the right thing. It was a day of which to be proud, not sorrowful.

Just my opinion, of course.

I wasn't blaming the Republicans!

It's a given that the Democrats didn't want him impeached/convicted.

I've come around to the view that the Republicans didn't either, for their own reasons.
