You are spot on. Dane was angry that someone could hurt another person so horribly. He sent prayers her way, etc. My read was that she wasn't to blame.

I don't think Dane was trying to hurt anyone, least of all Mrs. Chris.

Again, speaking for myself: If you've lost someone this way, you feel like you need to defend them when people with no real-life experience on the topic start opining about suicide and assigning motives like cowardice and selfishness to their actions.

Dane's mistake was pinging her so that she could read what a cowardly, selfish person he believed her husband was, in my opinion. He may have intended to be supportive to her, but he went about it awkwardly and it was not received well. (I know, Dane, you may not have meant it that way - that was my personal interpretation, and I will take your word for any explanation you offer.)

I generally agree though that a variety of opinions are quite predictable on FR and to be expected. Not having TILH's name in the title of this thread probably could have helped to keep this from becoming an issue, but the direction of the thread was not something the author could know.
