I don't understand how a supposedly good God can allow things like this to happen to people.

What's God supposed to do, send an angel down to snatch the vodka bottle from his hand, slap him on the nose with a rolled-up newspaper, and holler, "Bad Russian!"?

I don't understand how a supposedly good God can allow things like this to happen to people.I don't understand how supposedly good people can disobey God's commandments...and then ask questions like yours.

I guess I believe in free will and the fact that I can sin....the good God does allow us to sin, so we can learn from it. Obviously these guys didn't learn very well. I know it sounds simple, but I don't believe we are here on earth to live a protected life.

God told them not to do it, but did they listen? No!

You're really messed up in the head.
A Good God ensures that you suffer the consequences of your own actions.
Anything less would be wrong.
A Good God ensures that men are required to be men instead of cowardly begging God to save them from themselves. Cowards then curse the Almighty Lord when their own cowardice creates consequences they aren't prepared to accept.
If you want to think of yourself as a human, act like you have some free-will and stop begging Our Lord who is in Heaven to coddle your every limp-wristed step!
GAH! ATHEISTS!

I don't understand how a supposedly good God can allow things like this to happen to people. Is God supposed to take care of people who do incredibly dangerous and stupid things, and seem determined to kill themselves?
Or maybe you were being sarcastic and I just missed it.

I can't understand how supposedly intelligent people can't see the humor in this post. I think it was very funny!
For those who don't get it, they should down a gallon of vodka and then see if they find it amusing.
I would add, How can God let stupid things happen to bad people?

I don't understand how a supposedly good God can allow things like this to happen to people. He warns them.
He offers them an alternative.
But ultimately, do you suggest he force them to do something they do not want to do?

I don't understand how a supposedly good God...40 years ago I won two drinking contests within months in my 2nd year at UBC. At the Fraser Arms, I whiffed back 6 10 oz. glasses of beer in 15 seconds - won a sweatshirt(underage I was).
In a dorm room, I drank a 26-er(like a fifth) of Captain Morgan dark rum in 30 minutes. I won the most terrible hangover of my life. In retrospect, I realized what an idiot I had been to take such a risk.
God gave me the wisdom to see the error of my ways, and to stop crazy drinking, which I did.
I've never been drunk since. ;^)
