I'm no buff on this matter, but it is my own personal belief that we will find out exactly what happened someday. The answers will likely come from some classified Soviet archive, and Oswald's name will be on the pages along with anyone else who was inolved.

A great book has just been reprinted (title is "The Man Who Knew Too Much") that links Oswald to US intelligence operations. It's a great read.
