...can anyone name names as far as who the damned dumb-ass was who started the "put your guns down and go home" policy at the beginning of this war?
And the name of the dumb-ass who OK'd enough of troops to topple this government but not enough troops to occupy the country?
Just wondering.

".....c'mon, there's no way of getting perspective when these breathless reporters are constantly freaking out."
That's true in some cases. PLEASE don't let Fox send Rita Cosby to Iraq! Dana Lewis did have a suggestion that they may be testing for accuracy. Driving public opinion is an objective that must also be considered.
As far as the reporters lacking experience with explosions and danger, Steve Herrigan has taken some inordinately dangerous assignments and is eminently qualified to ascertain 'newsworthiness' of an event.

Iraq is a Bosnia writ large and it is utopian to try to make it into a unitary/democratic state. Yeah--except that we are actually using ground troops, engaging and destroying an actual enemy, fighting in our national interest, not under the command of the UN, using the full might of our military and allowing the ground-troops the freedom to plan and target objectives by themselves, we have an actual objective and will know when we win, Bosnia was cold and Iraq is warm, in Bosnia we were fighting FOR the Muslims and in Iraq we are fighting AGAINST the Muslims.
Other than all that, it's just like Bosnia....

And, um, leave the WMD in Assad's capable hands?

PLEASE don't let Fox send Rita Cosby to Iraq!But...she probably has good sources there.
To: Moleman
Do you even have a clue as to what type of message that would send to terrorist? You want to fight them here rather than there?I just don't understand the thought process of some people.

Bring em home. Along with the terrorists, eh? As the President has said, the War on Terrorism will take years and test our resolve. I have no doubt that we will prevail despite weak-kneed reactions. Thankfully, we have a President who is rock solid.

Steve Herrigan, Fox, 3 wounded to hospital. 1 wounded treated on site. News not as good as we were told initially.
To: doug from upland; MEG33
Thanks, doug. With our media all
concerned Americans will certainly not be ready for the coming years.
FN: Steve Harrigan: Pentagon saying ~ 4 people wounded, 3 of those mortars did land inside the compound. One treated at the scene, 3 wounded taken to the hospital.
