The Old Fire and the one from Devore area. Fire Chief in Running Springs is saying that Santa Ana winds could be back next weekend.

Hesperia & Apple Valley are the "flat lands". Not forest communities. Hopefully the fire will slow down due to not having large trees to burn.
I've finally got to watch the national TV coverage for the last couple of hours, and CNN is doing an excellent job. Live shots from Julian, very long interview with a fire chief at Stevenson Ranch explaining in detail what they are doing, their strategy, how they assess the situation, and some candid statements. He did note that the media wasn't getting in the way a bit! A very well done interview. About the only big hole in their coverage is Hesperia, but they probably are still trying to get a crew into position. MSNBC doing pretty well also. Both seem to be devoting about half their time to live coverage.
Fox News is extremely lame. Its great that they mix in the conservative side in their news, but their poor quality/People magazine style reporting really shows on a story like this. They seem to think that just tossing up some dramatic pictures and a live shot from somewhere where there is either a fire or someone crying over the remains of their home is enough. All about tone rather than detail. If its not political news, Fox is little better than MTV news.
Kudos to CNN and MSNBC for good coverage right now.

Bimbo reporters don't know the difference between high and low humidity -- saying it will be a few days before lower humidity on the coast reaches the mountains to help the fires. Don't know whether to laugh or shake my head!!

The smoke is so thick now I can no longer see the mountains at all. The smoke between me and Edwards (north) is gray/brown. The smoke between me and the San Gabriels (south) is white and has a bit of sunshiney look to it.

Whoops, I meant to say that the fire chief noted that the media WAS getting in the way a bit!

Agree.
I usually go to CNN for real breaking news - not the crap breaking news stuff that Fox puts up.
CNN has lots of area stations it goes to for first hand coverage.
I would think Fox would do the same.
MSNBC was on the fire, but the are on Scott now. Priority news.
Laci, Scott, Kobe, are much more important to tabloid Fox.

Have been shaking my head at these women reporters for sometime now -- bimbo is a good word. One this morning was talking about getting in a hot tub and then was remiinded that the hot tub was filled with ash! UGH!!!!!!

Fox News is extremely lame. The local SD FOx channel is doing an excellent job. I have been watching their coverage of the stand at Julian for the past couple of hours.

Laci, Scott, Kobe, are much more important to tabloid Fox. If they're going to do that, wish they would add "Terri" to that list.

no kidding...wow...had to get some rest last night even though I was on night duty. Now getting caught up. I had a thought this morning.
I wonder when they go to rebuild the housing divisions in those rural burned areas that they make it mandatory that there be a maintained fire break of either dirt or green grass devoid of vegetation of at least 100ft. perimeter. What do you think. If they don't they should.
