it was never in any real danger. it had firebreaks..
No danger, my a##. Fire is jumping firebreaks like nothing. Describe what you think the size/width of a "firebreak" is?

They are evacuating the command post and heading to a second CP....

looks like it may just be brush on fire. West side of 163 near 52

The way this wind is shifting and blowing, I wouldn't put any area out of fire danger right now that has fire burning anywhere nearby.

I'm in Orange County (right between LA and San Diego Counties on the coast and just East of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. No fires in this county but all the smoke and ash one can handle.
BTW I saw Chuck Henry's crying jag yesterday. Clearly he thought his goose was (literally) cooked.
He tried to stop the fire fighter who apparently saved him, to give him some "tv face time," the fire fighter shugged him off and kept walking as if Henry were nothing but a pain in the rear...never even turned toward the camera, just kept walking and talking into his hand held radio.

Refreshing to see a man who was more intent on his job than on a moment of fame.

I just called someone in Apple Valley who insisted they were not under mandatory evacuation. Can anyone tell me where that information came from? It's my friend's mom and she is stubborn.
They are not going to come to her door and ask her nicely. I'm pretty sure it is being broadcast radio, etc. Not a time to be stubborn. I wouldn't want to try to evac from here, wither, but I would rather go and come back to unharmed house than risk my horses who depend on my choices.
