The fire mentioned in Riverside County is far away from these main fires. Last night someone was going down I-10 starting fires as we recognized the interesections that fires were starting and they went right down I-10 toward Indio.

When it's in the tree tops, and at night with no air support, with 30 mph winds, it's as close to a lost cause as you can get.

Safety first for the firefighters. Damn this absolutely sucks.

Burned plant material? how can that be harmful?

Besides all the "natural" irritants and combustion products, decades of air polutants are 'sorbed by the plants, lead, sulfur, a witches brew of smokestack emissions, and God knowns what else are being dumped back into the atmosphere in a few days.
