Jesus was not addressing people's thoughts. He was dealing with the words that people use! Are you going to tell me that when you call someone an idiot you are loving them? Christ commanded us to love one another, even to love our enemies. I am not judging anyone in this. If I am preaching, I am preaching to myself as well.
