I'll say it again...any terrorist who decides to use a boxcutter to hijack an airplane or anything else will suffer the indignity of having it shoved up his keester only moments before he's beaten to a chunky paste by a planeload of very motivated passengers.

Someone is trying to make a point. There was a note with the bleach, box cutters and clay.

Bleach? What are they gonna do with that? Ruin dark clothing?
A little bleach in one small container--mix with ammonia from a second container--creates a highly toxic gas that is lethal.

Exactly! This is all stupid, because we learned on 9/11 that the policy of making nice with hijackers was wrong.
There is no way such a plan could ever work again. Yet, we focus so much effort on making sure that no one on an airplane has nail clippers. Utterly idiotic.

Would urine have enough ammonia in it to cause a reaction with the bleach?

Remember that some reports from the flight attendants on 9/11 indicated that the terrorists had used chemical sprays of some type to disable passengers and the flight crew(s).

In the end, I'm sure Bush will be blamed. :)

LOL.
Any day security finds any thing is a win for homeland security. (Of course, rats might say it shows unionized government democrats, er, I mean, employees was the reason for averting disaster, not HS.)

Only if you ate asparagas earlier :-0)
To: tsmith130
Did they find the ammonia yet? You can get ammonia in with no trouble at all. In fact most air trips end with several gallons of it having been produced by the passengers in flight.

What's that blue airplane toilet stuff made out of? Ammonia? What else besides ammonia is bad with bleach?

I can't speak for human urine, but dog urine sets the reaction up something fierce - I was cleaning up a mess the dog left one day in the garage, and got run out by the gas.

Wouldn't it depend on when they found it as to whether it proves security isn't good. (pre-flight,mid-flight,or post-flight)

Let us hope they do the prudent thing and do some thorough investigating of all service people that were on the planes in question, and then also do checks on passengers scheduled to be on the flights. That's my fear--that increased scruitiny of passengers means that the service folks will be able to place weapons on the planes for terrorists to pick up once they board. Wouldn't be that hard to do, especially with chemicals like bleach.
